POSITION SUMMARY

The Vice President, Digital Transformation is responsible for leading HNI's digital transformation strategy across the inspiration to order customer journey.  The leader will drive the adoption of technology, artificial intelligence, automation, and modern business processes to accelerate growth, improve productivity, and enhance dealer and customer experiences. 

This executive partners closely with business leaders across HNI's operating companies to identify, prioritize, and deliver transformational initiatives that create measurable business value with critical focus on the Sales, Digital Marketing, Brand Marketing, and Customer Support areas. The role serves as a key member of the IT leadership team, shaping the future of digital capabilities at HNI.

The Vice President, Digital Transformation is accountable for digital strategy, transformation governance, customer engagement platforms, digital product management, and enterprise change leadership. Success in this role requires balancing strategic vision with operational execution while building organizational capabilities that enable HNI to compete and innovate in a rapidly evolving business environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Digital Strategy & Transformation Leadership
  • Own and evolve the digital transformation roadmap supporting capabilities from inspiration to order, aligning investment with HNI’s strategic priorities.
  • Serve as the executive voice for digital capability across HNI's operating companies, translating business needs into a coherent technology strategy.
  • Identify and prioritize opportunities to modernize customer and dealer-facing digital experiences
  • Partner with the CIO and IT leadership team to align digital technology strategy with broader enterprise architecture and security standards.
  • Partner with operating company presidents and functional leaders to identify opportunities to improve growth, productivity, customer experience, and business performance.
Digital Products and Customer Engagement Leadership
  • Own the strategy, roadmap, and performance of digital products including corporate and brand website platforms.
  • Drive continuous improvement of the digital customer journey, from inspiration and product discovery through order and post-sales support.
  • Establish and monitor KPIs for digital product performance, conversion, uptime, and digital revenue contribution.
  • Evaluate and select platform partners, vendors, and tools in partnership with procurement and security.
Salesforce & Commercial Technology Leadership
  • Own the enterprise Salesforce platform strategy, roadmap, governance, and platform architecture.
  • Ensure Salesforce and related commercial technologies effectively support Sales, Marketing, and Customer Support processes across operating companies.
  • Drive platform modernization, integration, and scalability. 
  • Partner with business stakeholders to prioritize investments and maximize business value from commercial technologies.
  • Establish data governance, data quality, security, and change management standards for the commercial technology ecosystem.
Generative AI & Emerging Technology
  • Support and substantially contribute to HNI’s generative AI strategy, identifying high-value use cases.
  • Build organizational capability to responsibly pilot, scale, and govern generative AI tools and applications.
  • Stay current on emerging digital and AI technologies, assessing their relevance and business case for HNI.
  • Partner with executive, legal, security, and data governance functions to ensure responsible and compliant AI deployment.
Change Leadership & Organizational Effectiveness
  • Lead enterprise adoption and change management efforts supporting digital transformation initiatives.
  • Build executive alignment and stakeholder engagement across functions and operating companies.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, experimentation, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure teams are equipped to effectively adopt and maximize new technologies and business processes.
Team Leadership & Talent Development
  • Lead and develop a high-performing organization consisting of digital business partners, program managers, software developers, architects, and business analysts.
  • Establish clear goals, accountability and performance expectations aligned with business objectives.
  • Build organizational structure, career pathing, and capability plans that scale with business demand.
  • Manage budgets, staffing, and vendor/contractor relationships.
Project & Business Analysis Governance
  • Establish standardized project management practices, intake processes, and prioritization frameworks across the digital portfolio.
  • Ensure business analysis practices produce clear requirements, sound solution design, and measurable business outcomes.
  • Report portfolio status, risks, and value delivered to executive leadership on a regular cadence.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or related field required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • 15+ years of progressive IT leadership experience, including 10+ years focused on digital transformation, customer engagement or CRM platforms.
  • Demonstrated experience owning an enterprise Salesforce platform at scale.
  • Experience leading distributed teams of developers, project managers, and business analysts.
  • Direct experience piloting or scaling generative AI capabilities in an enterprise setting strongly preferred.
  • Experience in a manufacturing, B2B, or multi-brand/multi-business-unit environment is a plus.
