Job description

Admission Attendant I
JOB SUMMARY:
The Attendant is responsible for daily customer service duties which include giving accurate directions to the attractions, offering colorful descriptions of the various attractions and events on property and assisting guests as needed in a friendly, courteous, and compassionate manner. Additionally, this employee is responsible for accurate cashiering, scanning, ticketing, costume character handler, and performing as a costume character.
POSITION AUTHORITY:
The incumbent is authorized to take reasonable action necessary to carry out assigned duties and responsibilities, provided such action is consistent with position guidelines as outlined below.
POSITION GUIDELINES:
Position guidelines include, but are not limited to, performing company and department policies and procedures and all supervisory directives. The incumbent is expected to exercise sound, reasonable judgment and initiative, and give high priority to accuracy and details in the performance of job responsibilities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
General
  • Greet all guests in a friendly, courteous, and positive manner as they enter
  • Assume 100% responsibility for providing a high quality of guests experience by initiating interactions and answering questions
  • Assure prompt service while creating a friendly and inviting atmosphere for our guests
  • Maintain a neat appearance that includes a full uniform as specified by Department Head and other Moody Gardens Executives
  • Maintain a neat and orderly workstation, ensuring that the station is left in an organized manner complete with needed supplies upon cashing out
  • Exhibit good teamwork and communication skills both within the Admissions Department and with other departments
  • Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of the Moody Gardens attractions and amenities, in addition to the daily events and all special events offered seasonally
  • Report all maintenance problems to supervisors and/or Guest Services Manager
  • Clock in and out using Paycom within required parameters to track their work hours
Attraction Entry
  • Scan all tickets and membership cards at exhibit entries to ensure appropriate attraction tickets and valid membership cards (correct person pictured and within expiration date) being utilized for entry
  • Ensure guests understand rules regarding exhibit etiquette, i.e.: No Food or Drink, no pets, staying on trail/following fish on floor, etc.
  • Assist with guest needs for strollers and wheelchairs
Cashier
  • General ticketing duties and accurate cashiering during transactions by following procedures for cash handling as set by the Accounting Department and Management
  • Offer specials and provide information on daily events and accurate descriptions of all attractions, including operating hours and prices
  • Accurate accounting of all monies received during shift
  • Follow procedures for cashing out as set by Department Head
  • Assist guests with questions on Kiosk purchases
  • Any and all other duties as assigned; duties are subject to change as management deems necessary to best serve the needs of Moody Gardens
Photos
  • Greet Guests entering the attraction to invite them to take a special photo of their visit
  • Explain photo process, line up Guests for photo and take a satisfactory photo based on Photo Guidelines
  • Learn proper photography skills, including proper set-up, trouble-shooting, break-down transportation and storage camera and other equipment
Character Role and Handling
  • While in costume, communicate without vocalization/language by utilizing movement and gestures to suggest actions and words, while using body language to convey emotions such as happiness, sadness, shyness, excitement, etc.
  • Greet and interact with all guests (especially the children) in a friendly, courteous, and positive manner as they enter the various attractions. Be aware that some individuals are afraid of costumed characters and WILL NOT wish to interact. Please respect their choice.
  • Stay in character during all interactions and interact accordingly with the Guest and/or audience in your presence at that time.
  • Assist team member in costume with traversing and Guest interactions to ensure the safety of both our Guests and the character.
  • Properly maintain and put away the costumes following the scheduled shift
Admissions Attendant II
JOB SUMMARY:
The Admissions Attendant II is responsible for greeting members and assisting Guests as they arrive on property, in addition to assisting with new member and member renewal payments. As an operator/receptionist, the Admissions Attendant II is responsible for answering and transferring all incoming telephone calls in a pleasant, polite and efficient manner at the Administration Reception desk, in addition to providing support to memberships and greeting facility visitors. May provide clerical support to the administrative department.

Membership Sales
  • Accurately answer guest questions regarding hours of operations, ticket prices, attraction information, 3D showing and movie times, driving directions and annual membership information in an accurate and enthusiastic manner
  • Direct guests to desired locations on Moody Gardens property when asked
  • Complete membership transactions including new, renewal, and replacement passes
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Operator/Receptionist
  • Keep all report records up to date and distributed to appropriate areas
  • Promptly answer and/or route all incoming calls being mindful not to leave callers on "Hold" and unattended for longer than 20 seconds while pleasantly and politely using a multi-line phone system
  • Transfer calls to the appropriate person or department
  • Accurately answer guest questions regarding hours of operation, ticket prices, attraction information, 3D showings and movie times, driving directions and annual membership information in an accurate and enthusiastic manner
  • Assist guests by providing over-the-phone customer service with issues regarding tickets and/or future visits
  • Greet all visitors to the Administration offices and notify the appropriate departmental staff being visited. If more than a one-minute wait seems likely, offer and serve coffee, soda, etc. to the visitor.
  • Notify Supervisor immediately of incoming deliveries, presence of repair or maintenance personnel, or of the occurrence and nature of any communication concerning problems with the heating/air conditioning;
  • Immediately notify supervisor of any Security situation or problem with Safety System
  • Track daily attraction attendance
  • Sort and distribute all U.S. Mail and interoffice mail daily
  • Use the radio to make and receive calls from property staff
  • Print Daily Event reports
  • Ensure the reception area is properly staffed at all times when guests are expected
  • Notify Supervisor promptly to reschedule office hours (leaving early or having planned absence/vacation days) so a substitute can be arranged
  • Ensure the reception area remains clean and free of debris and collect any dishes left in the general office lobby at the end of the day
  • Generate computer reports for various Moody Gardens entities and distribute them to appropriate personnel
  • Retrieve hourly attendance counts and report to appropriate departments
  • Perform light typing for various staff members when necessary
  • Track daily attraction attendance
  • Distribute mail, interoffice faxes, and other information as needed
  • Send out information/brochures to guests as needed
  • Assist in maintaining an efficient filing system for Memberships as directed
  • Maintain an well-organized filing system for other documents as requested
  • Monitor online sales and report issues to appropriate areas
  • Process Will Call, online orders, membership upgrades, gift cards, and other ticket sales as deemed necessary
  • Properly use and maintain the operator's radio to contact facility personnel as needed

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to remain on feet standing and walking for extended periods of time
