We are looking for our next SeniorEnergy Engineer to provide professional guidance and leadership in energymanagement as well as improving and maintaining a variety of facilities. Thisposition includes analyzing and presenting data and making repairs andimprovements in energy efficiency in the building portfolio and serving as ProjectManager for energy projects. Here at GSA our portfolio includes nearly 200buildings, totaling over 5 million square feet and vary greatly fromcutting-edge new construction to one of the oldest and most unique high-risesin NC. Our facility inventory includes courthouses, EMS stations, libraries,health centers, detention centers and the list keeps going. Every day bringssomething new and we keep you inside the county, only traveling from Apex toZebulon.

Essential Functions:
Thisposition is responsible for specializing in Mechanical & Electricalprojects such as HVAC controls, LED Lighting, retro commissioning and solar PVand EV charging projects. This position assist in energy analysis and long-termplanning for the entire building portfolio to reduce utility and operatingcosts and make progress on County strategic goals and resolutions. PhysicalPlant has 4 work groups: General Trades, Electrical, Mechanical, and Plumbing.The Supervisors for these trades will often rely on this position for guidancein problem solving, modernizing systems, or coordinating resources among eachtrade discipline especially related to optimizing facility energy use.Essentially, this position's expertise will be solicited and valued on energyrelated items.
The Senior Energy Engineer will also have responsibilityfor energy management of Wake County facilities and is staff to the Wake CountyEnergy Advisory Commission along with the Physical Plant Director. Thisposition also works closely with Facilities Design &Construction to ensurethat buildings are built in a sustainable and maintainable manner.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facility Management: Keeps Wake County facilities, its building systems and related equipment operating as consistently and efficiently as possible-this includes assisting Trades Supervisors with troubleshooting system failures and ensuring that buildings are code compliant and meet all regulatory requirements
  • Project Management: Function as or work collaboratively with Project Managers on establishing the scope, budget, design, schedule and implementation of the project
  • Data Analysis: Analyze a range of data inputs including utility data and building system information to identify meaningful trends that will assist in decision-making processes and interpret diagnostics on system operations in order to maintain the integrity of core building systems
  • Presentations: Ability to craft and deliver detailed presentations on energy concepts for a broad range of audiences
  • Leadership: Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing systems and general construction principals and processes is required to offer guidance to all related Trades groups
  • Planning: Assists in the planning of CIP projects in the Energy Conservation Measure CIP- this position will work with the trade groups to ensure that technology implemented and considered has a defined maintenance plan
  • Position isresponsible for facilities operating 24/7 and may be required to work outsidethe standard schedule as needed.
