Job description

Interim Controller
Petaluma - Onsite


You arean experienced Interim Controller to provide strategic financial leadership and oversee accounting operations during a critical budgeting and planning cycle. This hands-on leadership role is responsible for financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, internal controls, payroll, accounts payable and receivable, and tax compliance while partnering with executive leadership to drive business performance. The ideal candidate is a collaborative financial leader with strong analytical skills, exceptional attention to detail, and experience managing complex budgeting processes across multiple stakeholders. 


This position pays: $80.00 to $90.00 per hour


What you will be doing:

  • Lead the company's finance and accounting functions, ensuring accurate financial reporting and regulatory compliance.
  • Direct the annual 2027 budgeting process, including revenue forecasting, COGS, operating expenses, capital expenditures for two entities, and cash flow forecasting.
  • Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, forecasts, and executive reports.
  • Develop financial strategies, performance metrics, and growth forecasts to support business objectives.
  • Oversee payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, tax reporting, and cash flow management.
  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable regulations.
  • Identify process improvements and implement financial systems and operational best practices.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership, providing financial insights to support strategic decision-making.


What you bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
  • CPA, MBA, or equivalent leadership experience strongly preferred.
  • Five or more years of experience as a Controller or in a senior financial leadership role.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft Word.
  • Strong experience with QuickBooks Online and payroll systems,
  • Proven expertise in budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, cash flow management, and internal controls.
  • Thorough knowledge of GAAP, accounting principles, tax reporting, and audit processes.
  • Experience leading annual budgeting across multiple departments and presenting financial results to executive stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of the organization.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, confidentiality, and sound judgment.
