GHJ Search and Staffing serves as the recruitment division of GHJ, a prominent national accounting and advisory firm. Our team provides qualified Accounting and Finance professionals on a temporary and permanent basis across a broad range of industries. GHJ's relationship with our Global Advisory and Accounting Network provides the resources needed to better understand client's needs, attract a higher caliber of candidates and assess candidate potential.

We are partnering with an organization in the Atlanta area seeking an experienced Controller for a contract engagement. This role will oversee day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, and month-end close activities while providing leadership and support to the accounting team.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on accounting professional with strong technical accounting knowledge, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to quickly adapt in a fast-paced environment. This individual will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records and supporting critical business operations during the engagement.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions
  • Manage month-end and year-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate reporting
  • Prepare and review financial statements and supporting schedules
  • Perform account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies
  • Ensure compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow analysis
  • Assist with audit preparation and provide requested documentation
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency
  • Partner cross-functionally with leadership to support operational and financial initiatives
  • Provide guidance and support to accounting staff as needed
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Prior Controller or accounting leadership experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
  • Experience with ERP systems and advanced Excel skills
  • Ability to quickly learn processes and operate independently
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical, and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
