The Opportunity
Hitachi Energy is seeking a highly motivated and business-oriented Factory Controller to join our team. Reporting directly to the Factory Manager, this position serves as a key member of the Business Unit leadership team and plays a critical role in driving financial performance, operational excellence, and strategic growth.
The Factory Controller is responsible for the overall financial management of the Business Unit, including financial planning and analysis, budgeting, forecasting, accounting oversight, compliance, risk management, performance measurement, and strategic decision support. This role serves as a trusted advisor to the Factory Manager and leadership team, providing financial insights that support sound business decisions and sustainable profitability.
How You'll Make an Impact
  • Partner with the Factory Manager and Business Unit leadership team to drive business performance and achieve strategic objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with Hitachi Energy finance directives, internal controls, and accounting and reporting guidelines.
  • Identify financial and operational risks and ensure effective mitigation measures, including maintaining a strong SOX control environment.
  • Lead the annual budgeting process and support the implementation of strategic initiatives designed to achieve business goals.
  • Provide financial analysis, forecasting, and business insights to support decision-making and improve performance.
  • Define, monitor, and drive the use of key performance indicators (KPIs) to enhance operational and financial results.
  • Analyze business proposals, operational performance, and investment opportunities, providing recommendations to leadership.
  • Evaluate and support investment, divestment, and restructuring initiatives.
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with corporate and regulatory requirements.
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives and cost optimization efforts across the Business Unit.
  • Drive effective coordination and collaboration with shared service centers and finance support teams.
  • Serve as a consultant and trusted advisor to the Factory Manager and Business Unit leadership team.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of four Financial Analysts.
  • Promote a culture of safety, integrity, accountability, and compliance in alignment with Hitachi Energy values.
  • Follow and perform duties in accordance with the Hitachi Energy Code of Conduct.
  • Travel approximately 5%-10% as required.

Your Background
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field and a minimum of 10 years of progressive finance and accounting experience in an operational environment; OR
  • MBA or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline and a minimum of 8 years of progressive finance and accounting experience.
  • Strong experience supporting manufacturing operations and business performance.
  • Experience leading financial planning, forecasting, budgeting, analysis, and reporting activities.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing and developing finance teams.
  • Strong knowledge of internal controls, risk management, and SOX compliance.
  • Advanced analytical, problem-solving, and business partnering skills.
  • Strong SAP experience and proficiency with financial systems and reporting tools.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Candidate must already have work authorization that permits them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States.
