Job description

The Beverly Arts Center, located at 2407 W 111th Street on the southside of Chicago is searching

for Teaching Artists to work in its Partnerships department, whose mission is to offer tailored

Arts-enrichment programming public and private schools throughout the city and surrounding

suburbs before-school, in-school and after-school. The Partnerships department and its ensemble

of professional Teaching Artists also serve home school groups, community organizations,

libraries, churches, and more, offering programming in all artistic disciplines in addition to

coordinating field trips and special events at the Beverly Arts Center.

Partnerships is seeking Teaching Artists for the 2026-27 school year in the following disciplines:

 Visual Arts

 Dance

 Film

 Music

 Theatre

 Specialty hobbies such as Chess. Journaling, Martial Arts and Yoga

Partnerships is also actively seeking substitute Teaching Artists to cover for contracted

instructors absences.

Responsibilities include:

 Planning curriculum and lesson plans for weekly classes that might meet one to five

times a week. Most classes meet for one hour.

 Teaching students ages PreK-12 grade-appropriate artistic curriculum specific to the

Teaching Artists discipline

 Documenting the creation process and any finished student work or culminating events

 Working within BAC, Chicago Public Schools, and other outside partner policies and

procedures

 Strong work ethic including timeliness and quality preparation

 Submitting to fingerprinting and background checks for each partnering organization to

be cleared before placement in applicable classrooms

Requirements include:

 A High School Diploma is required, and a Bachelor';s or advanced degree is preferred;

compensation is commensurate with education level and teaching experience. Pay ranges

from $25-50 per hour.

 All candidates will be considered primarily on the basis of reliability, accountability, and

integrity combined with a passion for bringing the arts to classrooms in need of enriching

artistic programs.

 Teaching Artists are strongly motivated independent contractors who demonstrate

tangible classroom management skills and an ability to properly address behavior issues

among students.

 Transparent availability, scheduling flexibility, and STRONG communication skills are

required assets for this position.
