This position will be based out of the Corporate Centre in Merrillville, IN daily. Department hours are Monday-Friday 8:00-5:00 CST, but having schedule flexibility to needed.

Summary: Works to build relationships with hiring managers to identify talent that supports the Bank's strategic plans, and perpetuates the culture of fun, ambassadorship, and the Centier image. Plans and implements recruiting and hiring strategies that drive quality-of-hire, time to fill, and provide an extraordinary candidate and hiring experience. Flexibility, recruiting vision, social recruitment strategy, business acumen, personal organization, and the ability to succeed in a collaborative team are required. Support culture retention by serving as a consultant to associates and managers on Human Resources related needs. Build and maintain relationships - act as the associate champion and change agent for the business units.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Talent Acquisition & Recruitment

  • Review employment applications, evaluating work history, education, skills, and compensation expectations
  • Conduct interviews using the Targeted Selection system and refer qualified candidates to hiring managers
  • Assist in hiring decisions by assessing qualifications, predictive index results, and interview feedback
  • Perform reference, background, and credit checks
  • Recruit candidates through job fairs, college partnerships, workforce agencies, community outreach, etc.
  • Build and maintain relationships with external talent pipelines (schools, agencies, career offices)

Candidate Experience

  • Communicate with candidates throughout the hiring process, including offer and disposition updates
  • Maintain accurate and detailed applicant records in Workday, including documentation of hiring decisions

Hiring Manager Partnership

  • Build strong relationships with managers to support effective hiring decisions
  • Provide insight and recommendations on candidate selection
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to align hiring strategies with business needs

Associate Development & Associate Relations

  • Provide guidance and feedback to associates on current roles and career growth opportunities
  • Support career pathing and counseling initiatives
  • Proactively address associate relations matters to support performance and engagement

Onboarding & Training

  • Lead and support the new hire Foundations program, including facilitation and coordination
  • Partner with teams to ensure a smooth onboarding experience

Culture & Engagement Initiatives

  • Lead and support internal culture programs and initiatives
  • Manage annual "Best Places to Work" and "Best Bank to Work" survey processes
  • Promote organizational values across all levels of the company

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for Human Resources related projects and reports and will assist other department members with their workload as needed
  • Visits branches and departments periodically to follow up and build rapport

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of Federal and Indiana State employment laws
  • Strong computer knowledge in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Smartsheet, Outlook, etc.
  • Comfort with technology and learning new systems is critical
  • Ability to work through processes, decisions, and problems by listening, thinking through all facts and information, and responding based on previous experience and facts
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Able and willing to travel to all branches, job fairs and community events as needed

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required. A degree in Human Resources is preferred but will factor in experience within the HR field if the degree is unrelated
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in Human Resources required
  • Proven client service & relationship building experience required
  • Prior recruiting and hiring experience with a financial institution preferred
