What is a career agent?

Career agents are professionals who help individuals navigate their career paths by offering guidance on job searches, resume writing, interview preparation, and professional development. They act somewhat like personal coaches, providing tailored advice and connecting clients with potential employers or opportunities that match their skills and goals. Career agents may work independently, as part of career services firms, or within educational institutions. Their main goal is to support clients in achieving their career objectives and making informed decisions about their professional future.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a career agent, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Career Agent, you need a strong understanding of career counseling, recruitment practices, and labor market trends, typically supported by a degree in human resources, psychology, or a related field. Familiarity with applicant tracking systems (ATS), resume-building software, and career assessment tools is highly beneficial. Exceptional interpersonal, active listening, and coaching skills help Career Agents build trust and effectively guide clients. These competencies are crucial for matching candidates with suitable opportunities and supporting clients in achieving their career goals.

Job description

Are you looking for a CAREER not just a job? We may have just what your looking for! American Senior Benefits is looking for individuals that wish to have just that! We specialize in training and developing successful Career Agents. We have an office in Omaha and in Lincoln. We are able to work all of Nebraska and the surrounding areas with out being captive within a territory. We work mostly with the senior market, although we can work with any age group. Within the senior market we guide them through their retirement planning process with regard to Medicare options, Life Insurance needs as well as Investment options. Our agents are required to become licensed in Life and Health Insurance for their resident state. If they choose to do so they may become licensed in a few non-resident states. We assist you in becoming licensed by providing you with the study materials needed to begin this process and guide you through the entire procedure. Our primary focus in finding a good candidate for this career opportunity is to find someone that doesn't necessarily have a background in sales; but someone that has a strong background in customer service, has strong communication skills, must be a go-getter, be self-disciplined, passionate about helping others, be a team player and have the ability to guide others through our changing healthcare system. Having these qualifications will be necessary, the rest of the skills will be taught by us during our training process.
