SUMMARY: While delivering innovative solutions, exceptional service, and trusted results, the Career Agent will provide case-management services to Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) customers. In this role, the Career Agent is responsible for delivering individualized services to help and support customers to achieve their employment goals and achieve self-sufficiency. This includes offering guidance in areas such as life-skills development, educational and vocational training, job readiness preparation, and overcoming employment barriers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:โ€ฏ

  • Provide career counseling and intensive case-management services that support and facilitate customersโ€™ progression and compliance with TANF programs.
  • Complete intake and eligibility determination and assess jobseekersโ€™ employment and training needs and abilities through interviewing, testing, and other methods.
  • Coordinate all services and ensure that customers are making meaningful progress toward preparing for, finding, and retaining employment.
  • Perform programโ€™s intake assessment by thoroughly completing all intake forms to include, but not limited to, reviewing assessments and initial individual responsibility planโ€™s (IRP) with the customer, conduct in-depth discussion with customer about assessment results, and develop and/or amend customerโ€™s IRP.
  • Maintain thorough and accurate documentation: Record detailed case notes in the CATCH system, ensuring proper documentation of career counseling and intensive case management services provided to customers. Ensure all entries meet compliance requirements and adhere to program policies and procedures.
  • Counsel customers on the local labor market, available job opportunities, training programs and other services, referring individuals to appropriate services and follow-up on those activities.
  • Maintain accurate individual case files for each registered customer assuring that each file contains all required eligibility documents and meets compliance requirements with all policies and procedures.
  • Participate in regular staff meetings, staff training, supervisory sessions, and aid the development of positive team relationships.
  • Conduct orientation sessions, workshops, job clubs, and other group presentations.
  • Meet and/or exceed contractual benchmarks, completing all required reports.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree from an accredited college or university. โ€ฏThe degree requirement may be substituted for eight (8) years of professional work experience.โ€ฏ
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience working in a case management and/or eligibility environment.
  • Previous Career Coaching experience is a plus.
  • Experience with Federal, State, and local TANF rules and regulations highly preferred.
  • Experience working with adults in the workforce system and those disconnected from employment services.โ€ฏ

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:โ€ฏPersonal computer literacy required, including effective use of the Internet, e-mail, video conferencing (Zoom, Teams) and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).โ€ฏ

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:โ€ฏWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, sit, talk, and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
