Department Summary

The Department of Housing and Residence Life at the University of North Texas is a growing organization which serves over 6400 students in 14 residence halls. Our department is organized into the following areas: Residence Life, Systems and Services, and Facilities and Business Operations. UNT Housing contributes to the mission of the university by promoting safe and all-embracing living environments, fostering student connections and campus engagement, and providing unique learning opportunities.

Position Overview

This position is responsible for the implementation and management of student programs and student related activities/events, trainings, development, and program assessment to meet departmental objectives. This position will also serve as the primary program development liaison and will coordinate recruitment, trainings and advise students to ensure program effectiveness.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in related field and one year of professional related experience in coordinating or administering higher education programming or related field; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Ability to prioritize multiple ongoing responsibilities. Strong organizational skills. Proficiency in MS Office. Strong problem solving and conflict resolution skills.

Job Duties

  • Directly supervise and manage the paraprofessional Housing Ambassador and Front Desk staff teams. Recruit, hire, evaluate, and provide ongoing training and feedback to Housing Ambassadors and Front Desk Assistants. Review and approve timesheets.ย 
  • Manage and oversee the Welcome Center Housing front desk operations (staffed by Housing Ambassadors) and additional residence hall front desk locations (staffed by Front Desk Assistants). Maintain scheduling of student staff in assigned areas and provide necessary coverage during business hours if needed. Ensure consistent daily operations across all assigned desks, including scheduling, administrative task coordination, and customer service delivery, while supporting the unique functions of the Welcome Center, including housing tours.ย 
  • Ensure consistent customer service response via the Welcome Center Housing front desk and any assigned additional residence hall desk operations. Maintain customer service records and support the implementation of departmental service standards.ย 
  • Schedule regular housing tours and special request housing tours for university departments.ย 
  • Assist as needed with admissions and enrollment activities related to the housing program.ย 
  • Assist with departmental administration as directed by the Associate Director of Housing Services.ย
