Position Overview

The Illinois Department of Transportation seeks to hire a Storekeeper II. Under the direct supervision of the Operations Supervisor/Area Manager, the successful candidate will manage the storeroom and its inventory.

Essential Functions
  • Manages the storeroom and its inventory.
  • Unloads and inspects goods received from vendors (with additional help during peak periods).
  • Maintains inventory records using the Asset Management Program (AMP) and manual systems.
  • Schedules pickups of inventory and supply.
  • Records vehicle accountability data in AMP.
  • Receives and reviews requests for office supplies.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of those enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four years high school.
  • Requires two years of experience in the keeping of stores and stores records.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prefers extensive knowledge of storekeeping and warehousing methods and procedures in the receipt, storage, and shipment of a variety of goods.
  • Prefers working knowledge of purchase and procurement procedures.
  • Prefers working knowledge of transportation agencies. 
  • Prefers ability to keep perpetual inventory records.
  • Prefers ability to make inspections for quality of goods against purchase orders and specifications.
Conditions of Employment
  • Requires pre-employment physical examination, drug and alcohol testing and random drug and alcohol testing.
  • Requires ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Requires ability to be available within a 45-minute notice.
  • Requires successful completion of a background investigation.
  • Requires valid driver's license.
  • Certain provisions of the revolving door restrictions contained in 5 ILCS 430/5-45 apply to this position. As a result, the employee should be aware that if offered non-State employment during state employment or within one year immediately after ending State employment, the employee shall, prior to accepting any such non-State employment offer, notify the Office of the Executive Inspector General for the Agencies of the Illinois Governor (OEIG) or may be subject to a fine.
