\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nThe State of Connecticut, Connecticut Technical Education and Career System (CTECS)invites applicants to apply for a part-time Storekeeper position. The position is based in Hartford, at CTECS Central Office.\r\n\r\n\r\nHowever, this classification may require the incumbent to travel to various locations throughout the district to fulfill duties.\r\n\r\n\r\nPosition Highlights:\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n This is a part-time (35 hours/week) position\r\n First shift, Monday-Friday 7:30am-3:00pm\r\n Permanent part-time employees are eligible for benefits and accrue paid time off in accordance with the number of hours worked.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nIn your role as a Storekeeper:\r\nThe Storekeeper will be responsible for: Tracking inventory, performing physical counts, reconciling data, and preventing overstock or shortages. Recording all stock movements using inventory software, processing invoices, and generating consumption reports. Receives, stores, tags and tracks surplus property; prepares property lists for items to be sold at auction.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nAbout Us:\r\nCTECS serves approximately 11,200 full-time high school students. PURPOSE OF JOB CLASS (NATURE OF WORK)

This class is accountable for independently performing a full range of various stores duties, both manual and clerical, such as receiving, storing, issuing, inspecting, inventorying, and the like; may be in charge of a small storeroom or be a specialist in a phase of total stores operation.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

\r\n\r\n\r\n Receives and issues stock and maintains records of receipts, requisitions, and stock on hand;\r\n Arranges stock in planned fashion, with due account taken of age, accessibility, safety and security;\r\n Clarifies amount and condition of stock on hand and reports all discrepancies or need for replenishment;\r\n Verifies quantity and quality of incoming supplies against invoices, dray bills, bills of lading and orders;\r\n Maintains housekeeping and security of stores area;\r\n Takes required inventory of materials and supplies;\r\n Receives gas station reports and makes necessary corrections;\r\n Keeps mileage and maintenance records of vehicles in car pool;\r\n Inspects material handling equipment, scales, gas pumps and other allied storeroom equipment for accuracy and safety;\r\n Codes and inventories furniture and equipment;\r\n Operates material handling equipment;\r\n May perform purchasing functions for inventory item stock replenishment;\r\n May drive motor vehicles as assigned;\r\n May enter data into a computer;\r\n Performs related duties as required.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY

\r\n\r\n\r\n Knowledge of\r\n \r\n the methods of requisitioning, handling, storing and issuing of materials and supplies;\r\n safe and efficient warehousing practices including purchasing;\r\n \r\n \r\n Skills\r\n \r\n interpersonal skills;\r\n oral and written communication skills;\r\n \r\n \r\n Ability to\r\n \r\n keep accurate stock records and inventories;\r\n utilize computer software.\r\n \r\n \r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE

Two (2) years of experience in stock or warehouse work or closely related work that could reasonably be expected to provide the knowledge, skills and abilities listed above.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

\r\n\r\n Experience performing purchasing, receiving, storing, issuing, or inventory control duties in a warehouse, facilities, retail, or educational environment.\r\n Experience maintaining inventory records or using basic inventory systems, including data entry for tracking materials.\r\n Experience using Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Outlook, to support recordkeeping and communication.\r\n Valid driver's license\r\n\r\n\r\n

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

\r\n Incumbents in this class may be required by the appointing authority to possess and retain appropriate current licenses, permits and/or certifications.\r\n\r\nDEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION\r\n\r\n\r\n Incumbents in this class must be willing to accept assignment to emergency duties, including snow and ice removal, whenever their services are required.\r\n\r\n\r\n

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

\r\n Incumbents in this class must have adequate physical strength, stamina, physical agility and visual and auditory acuity, and must maintain such physical fitness as to be able to perform the duties.\r\n A physical examination may be required.\r\n\r\n

WORKING CONDITIONS

Incumbents in this class may be required to lift moderate to heavy weights; may be exposed to weather conditions and may be required to handle hazardous materials/chemicals.
