Job description

Markon is seeking a qualified Space Planner / Space Auditor to support facility planning, occupancy management, and space utilization initiatives for a government customer. The selected candidate will participate in all phases of the planning process, working closely with end users, designers, project managers, quality assurance personnel, furniture teams, and government stakeholders. This role is responsible for analyzing building usage, conducting space audits, developing space planning solutions, and ensuring accurate occupancy and utilization data across facilities.

The ideal candidate will possess strong space planning expertise, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects while supporting senior leadership and organizational planning efforts. Travel, including occasional overseas travel, is required to conduct facility space audits and occupancy assessments.


  • Gather, analyze, and coordinate customer space and occupancy requirements.
  • Assist government personnel in identifying and resolving immediate and future space planning and occupancy needs.
  • Perform field measurements and validate existing facility conditions.
  • Conduct space audits to verify occupancy, utilization, personnel bed-downs, and space allocation accuracy.
  • Resolve spatial orientation and space utilization challenges within assigned facilities.
  • Develop and modify space layouts, floor plans, and occupancy configurations using AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Review and interpret architectural drawings, blueprints, and floor plans.
  • Coordinate projects and planning efforts with engineers, designers, project managers, quality assurance personnel, furniture teams, and government stakeholders.
  • Prepare recommendations regarding facility utilization, occupancy planning, and strategic space management initiatives.
  • Generate utilization, capacity, occupancy, and vacancy reports using the ARCHIBUS database.
  • Maintain accurate space inventory and occupancy records.
  • Assist in identifying gaps and discrepancies within accountable space inventories, including 1450 and 1450-1 accountable spaces.
  • Support planning studies, compliance documentation, and facility planning reports.
  • Facilitate meetings, workshops, and stakeholder engagements related to space planning efforts.
  • Prepare written communications, briefings, and presentations for senior leadership.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize assignments to meet organizational requirements and deadlines.
  • Perform domestic and international travel as required to conduct facility assessments and space audits.

  • Active TS/SCI clearance with CI Polygraph
  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Interior Design, Facilities Management, Engineering, Planning, or a related field.
  • 4+ years of experience in space planning, occupancy planning, facilities planning, or space management.
  • Experience using ARCHIBUS Computer-Aided Facility Management (CAFM) software.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit for space planning and facility layout development.
  • Experience conducting facility space audits, occupancy assessments, and utilization studies.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, floor plans, and construction drawings.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, and Adobe products.
  • Excellent customer service, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience supporting senior leadership.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally, including periodic overseas travel.

Desired:

  • Experience supporting Intelligence Community, Department of Defense, or other federal government facilities.
  • Knowledge of facility management, workplace strategy, and strategic space planning principles.
  • Experience supporting large-scale occupancy planning or relocation initiatives.
  • Familiarity with facility utilization metrics, occupancy analytics, and reporting methodologies.
  • Experience coordinating with multidisciplinary teams in secure or mission-critical environments.

USD $110,000.00 - USD $125,000.00 /Yr.
