How do Imagery Analysts typically collaborate with other intelligence professionals during a project?

Imagery Analysts often work closely with other intelligence professionals, such as geospatial analysts, all-source analysts, and field operators. Collaboration usually involves sharing findings, validating data interpretations, and integrating imagery insights with other intelligence sources to build a comprehensive situational picture. Regular briefings and teamwork are essential, as analysts frequently contribute to joint assessments and support mission planning. This collaborative environment not only enhances the accuracy of intelligence products but also supports professional development through peer learning and interdepartmental exposure.

What does an imagery analyst do?

An imagery analyst examines satellite and aerial imagery to identify, analyze, and interpret geographic features, objects, and changes on the Earth's surface. They use specialized software and tools, often working under tight deadlines, to support military, intelligence, or environmental operations. Strong attention to detail and knowledge of geospatial analysis are essential skills for this role.

How much does 35F get paid?

The military occupational specialty 35F, Imagery Analyst, typically earns a salary based on rank and years of service, with pay ranging from approximately $2,000 to $4,000 per month for enlisted personnel. Additional benefits include housing allowances and bonuses, and the role often requires security clearances and proficiency with imagery analysis tools.

What are Imagery Analysts?

Imagery Analysts are professionals who examine images, such as satellite photos, aerial photographs, or infrared images, to gather information and support decision-making in fields like defense, intelligence, or environmental monitoring. They interpret visual data to identify objects, monitor changes, and produce detailed reports for their organizations. Their work often supports military operations, disaster response, or scientific research by providing accurate and timely analysis of visual information.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Imagery Analyst, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Imagery Analyst, you need strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a background in geospatial sciences or a related field, often supported by relevant certifications or military training. Proficiency with geographic information systems (GIS), remote sensing software, and imagery exploitation tools like ArcGIS or ERDAS IMAGINE is typically required. Effective communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities help analysts interpret complex imagery and convey actionable intelligence to decision-makers. These skills ensure accurate analysis, timely intelligence delivery, and support for critical operations in defense, security, and disaster response.

What Does an Imagery Analyst Do?

An imagery analyst gathers information from various types of images. The kind of pictures that you work with depends on the nature of your job. You may work with screenshots, photographs, satellite pictures, infrared pictures, or ultrasounds. You evaluate the images and interpret what you see. During the analysis, you identify relevant information and document your findings. Your duties also include performing background research to verify the information that you get from the image. An imagery analyst can work in the medical field, scientific research, or geography. The military and government agencies also use analysts to find information for intelligence purposes.

What jobs make $1,000,000 a year?

In the field of imagery analysis, high-level roles such as senior intelligence analysts or specialized consultants working for government agencies or defense contractors can reach or exceed a million dollars annually, especially with experience, security clearances, and leadership responsibilities. These positions often require advanced skills in geospatial intelligence, extensive experience, and sometimes additional certifications. Most imagery analysts, however, earn significantly less, with top-tier roles being relatively rare and highly competitive.

How much do image analysts make?

Image analysts typically earn between $50,000 and $80,000 annually, depending on experience, location, and security clearance requirements. Entry-level positions may start lower, while experienced analysts with specialized skills or certifications can earn higher salaries.
