What is a senior sales development representative?

Senior Sales Development Representatives (SDRs) are experienced sales professionals responsible for identifying and qualifying potential customers for a company’s products or services. They focus on generating leads, nurturing relationships, and setting up meetings or demos for account executives to close deals. Senior SDRs often mentor junior team members and help refine outreach strategies to meet sales goals. Their expertise allows them to handle more complex accounts and contribute significantly to the sales pipeline.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a senior sales development representative, and why are they important?

To excel as a Senior Sales Development Representative, you need a strong understanding of sales processes, lead generation, and account management, typically supported by experience in business development or sales roles. Familiarity with CRM systems like Salesforce, sales engagement platforms, and data analysis tools is essential for tracking and optimizing outreach. Exceptional communication, resilience, and relationship-building skills help you connect with prospects and collaborate with internal teams. These competencies drive pipeline growth, ensure effective lead qualification, and contribute to overall revenue success.

The main difference between a Senior Sales Development Representative and a Sales Development Representative lies in experience and responsibilities. The senior role requires more industry knowledge and handles more complex lead qualification, while the entry-level SDR focuses on prospecting and initial outreach. Both roles are vital in B2B sales teams, especially in tech and SaaS industries.

How much does a senior sales development representative get paid?

A senior sales development representative typically earns between $60,000 and $90,000 annually, with total compensation often including commissions and bonuses based on performance. Salaries can vary depending on industry, location, and experience, and the role often requires strong communication and CRM skills.

Is a Senior Sales Development Representative an entry level position?

A Senior Sales Development Representative is typically not an entry-level position; it usually requires several years of sales experience, strong communication skills, and a proven track record in lead generation and qualification. This role often involves mentoring junior team members and using CRM tools, reflecting a higher level of responsibility within sales teams.

How does a senior sales development representative typically collaborate with account executives and other sales team members?

As a Senior Sales Development Representative (SDR), you play a crucial role in the early stages of the sales cycle by identifying and qualifying leads. You'll frequently collaborate with account executives to share insights about prospects, develop tailored outreach strategies, and ensure a smooth handoff when leads are ready for deeper engagement. Regular communication with marketing teams is also common, as you help refine messaging based on feedback from conversations with potential clients. This collaborative environment fosters learning and provides opportunities to contribute to team goals while expanding your sales expertise.

We're recognized with an LVMH Innovation Award and named to the Inc. 5000 Fastest Growing Companies in 2025, and we're just getting started.

If you want to work at the intersection of AI, global commerce, and IP, this is the place. We're pushing the boundaries of brand control to keep innovation, creativity, and trust safeguarded in a rapidly evolving digital world.

How You'll Make an Impact

As a Senior Sales Development Representative, you'll play a critical role in driving MarqVision's next phase of growth by creating pipeline with some of the world's leading brands. You'll leverage modern outbound strategies, AI-powered prospecting tools, and deep research to engage senior decision-makers across legal, brand protection, security, ecommerce, and marketing teams.

This is more than a traditional SDR role. You'll drive AI GTM, outbound strategy, provide feedback on messaging and campaigns, mentor teammates, and partner closely with marketing and sales leadership to continuously improve how we go to market. If you're energized by building pipeline, testing new ideas, and working in a fast-moving AI company, you'll thrive here.

What You'll Do

  • Generate qualified pipeline through outbound prospecting across phone, email, LinkedIn, and other modern engagement channels
  • Research target accounts and develop personalized outreach strategies that resonate with executive stakeholders
  • Partner closely with Account Executives to build account plans and execute coordinated outbound campaigns
  • Leverage AI-powered sales tools and data signals to prioritize outreach and maximize efficiency
  • Qualify prospective customers and schedule high-quality discovery meetings that convert into pipeline
  • Maintain accurate activity, account, and opportunity data within Salesforce and other sales systems
  • Share best practices, mentor newer SDRs, and contribute to improving team processes, messaging, and outbound playbooks

What You Bring

  • 3+ years of experience in Sales Development, Business Development, or outbound SaaS sales
  • Consistent track record of exceeding pipeline generation or meeting creation targets
  • Experience selling into enterprise or mid-market organizations through complex outbound prospecting
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage executive-level buyers
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, and the ability to manage a large book of accounts
  • Comfort using modern sales technology including Salesforce, Sales Engagement platforms, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, and AI-enabled prospecting tools
  • Self-motivation, coachability, and excitement to contribute to a fast-growing, high-performance sales culture

Bonus Signal

  • Experience selling brand protection, legal technology, or AI software
  • Experience mentoring or onboarding SDR teammates
  • Familiarity with tools such as Amplemarket, Orum, Gong, Clay, or similar modern AI sales technologies

Compensation

The base salary range for this role is $93,000 - $119,000, with an on-target earnings (OTE) range of $133,000 - $170,000, determined by location, skills, experience, market demands, and internal pay parity.

Why Become a Marqvisioner

  • Flexible PTO to take the time you need, when you need it
  • Hybrid work model designed for focus and flexibility
  • Equity in every offer - because you should own a piece of what you're building
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage, plus parental leave to support your life outside of work
  • 401(k) plan to help you save for the future
  • A one-time home office stipend for remote employees - because your setup should work as hard as you do
  • One Medical membership
