Why Funnel?

We are a 'work from anywhere' in the U.S. SaaS company that centers our services on the renter experience. We develop amazing software that has revolutionized the #proptech industry. And did we mention we have an amazing team that is on #FunnelFire!? Oh, did we forget to tell you we have unlimited DTO, P.I.N.K. core values that ROCK, and our team puts the FUN in Funnel!

Who is Funnel Leasing?

Have you ever rented an apartment and wished the process could be better? At Funnel we do too. We know we need to make the process of renting an apartment as easy as purchasing socks on Amazon. We’ve created cloud-based marketing and leasing software that delivers the ultimate rental experience for everyone involved in the process. We’re in the process of transforming the real estate industry through cutting-edge technology built, sold, and supported by the most passionate people you’ll meet.

The Controller essential roles and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

Roles and responsibilities:

  • Financial Reporting & Analysis:
    • Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements (monthly, quarterly, annual) in accordance with GAAP.
    • Analyze financial results, identify trends, and provide insights to SVP of Finance.
    • Prepare financial reports and presentations that will be shared with the executive team, board of directors, and investors.
    • Manage the annual audit process and be the key stakeholder for our external auditors, along with support from the team.
  • Accounting Operations:
    • Supervise and mentor the Accounting Manager and 1-2 other accounting staff members.
    • Oversee all accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, collections and M/Q/A accounting and reporting.
    • Oversee and approve all payroll expenditures, the day to day of which is led by the Accounting Manager.
    • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of all financial records and transactions.
    • Constantly identify opportunities for automation and efficiency improvements.
    • Maintain and review written accounting policies and procedures.
  • Other Key Controllership Functions:
    • Oversee the company's taxes, including sales and income taxes. Be the key stakeholder for our tax firm and the owner of Avalara for sales taxes.
    • Implement and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard company assets.
    • Manage the company's treasury function, ensuring a strong ROI on excess cash, adequate liquidity, and accurate cash projections.
  • Strategic Planning & Growth:
    • Lead the integration of accounting teams, records and accounting software before, during and after acquisitions (max 1 per year).
    • Participate in the development of the company's budgeting and long-term financial planning.
    • Assist the SVP of Finance in evaluating the financial impact of business decisions and provide recommendations.

    • Stay up-to-date on current accounting and financial reporting standards.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the SVP of Finance.
    • Travel 0-10%
    • Self-starter: when you see a problem, you don’t think twice to solve it
    • Create a culture of continuous improvement and learning
    • Foster collaboration within team and across the company
    • A preference to own projects rather than delegate
    • Come to work without an ego: we are a small team and no task is beneath anyone

Education, Work Experience, and Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • CPA license (active or inactive)
  • 7+ years of accounting experience, showing role progression
