About the Assistant Controller Role

A growing real estate organization in the Orlando area is seeking an Assistant Controller to oversee property-level accounting for its commercial real estate portfolio. This Assistant Controller will play a key role in managing accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and supporting leadership with portfolio performance analysis and financial oversight.


Responsibilities for Assistant Controller

As the Assistant Controller, you will:

  • Manage property accounting activities including month-end close, journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation
  • Review and approve balance sheet and income statement reconciliations
  • Prepare and oversee budgets, forecasts, cash flow reporting, and variance analysis
  • Support asset-level reporting and provide analysis of property and portfolio performance
  • Prepare and review CAM reconciliations and tenant recovery calculations
  • Assist with lender reporting, debt compliance tracking, and loan-to-value (LTV) exposure analysis
  • Support partnership accounting, investor reporting, and waterfall calculations as needed
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and company policies
  • Supervise and develop accounting staff while improving processes and reporting consistency

Required Qualifications for Assistant Controller

The ideal Assistant Controller will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
