Job description

Position Overview:

The Assistant Controller plays a critical role in ensuring accurate, timely and compliant financial information reporting.  This position will ensure confidentiality of processes and follow company policies and procedures.  The Assistant Controller will report directly to the VP/Controller.


Responsibilities:

  • Manage the month-end, quarter-end and year-end close processes to ensure accuracy across general ledger accounts: tasks include journal entries, account reconciliations and analysis, gathering data and preparing various reports
  • Prepare and analyze internal financial statements and back-up consolidated financial statement preparation in accordance with GAAP
  • Ensure Tax and Audit Compliance by gathering data for tax reporting, filing sales tax returns in multiple states and preparing audit schedules
  • Assist with various accounting tasks including but not limited to: ad hoc reporting and special projects, budgeting and analyzing, account reconciliations and data entry and manage various filings including but not limited to annual reports
  • Support Accounts payable staff:  tasks include invoice entry, payment processing, new vendor onboarding
  • Support Accounts receivable staff: tasks include depositing customer payments, customer applications and onboarding, billing, and AR collections
  • Support Payroll staff to ensure accurate and timely processing of multi-state payroll, maintain compliance with wage, tax and regulatory standards
  • Support Insurance and Risk Management functions: tasks include but not limited to tracking and gathering data for corporate insurance including workers’ compensation and OSHA reporting requirements
  • Implement and maintain financial controls and procedures to protect company assets


Skills/Qualifications:

  • Must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • Minimum of (2) two years of experience in Accounting is required
  • Profound knowledge of GAAP
  • High attention to detail and solid analytical capabilities
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, effectively prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines in a rapidly changing environment
  • Proven ability in supporting colleagues with a positive approach to challenges
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills are required
