Compensation: Competitive base + bonus

Overview

A private equity-backed government contracting technology company is seeking a Controller / VP of Finance to lead the finance function during a pivotal growth phase. With strong positioning across federal and commercial markets, the company is well positioned for a potential liquidity event in the next 2–3 years.

This role offers a a great opportunityfor a high-impact leader who can elevate financial operations, drive strategic insight, and partner closely with executive leadership. Wonderful culture and team in place!

The Opportunity
  • Step into the top finance role (reporting directly to the CEO and President) as the incumbent retires
  • Join a stable, well-run organization with strong processes already in place
  • Lead a lean, high-performing team (3–4 direct reports across Finance, HR, and Contracts)
  • Play a key role in scaling operations and preparing for potential exit/diligence activities
  • High visibility with executive leadership and private equity stakeholders
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead all aspects of accounting, finance, FP&A, treasury, and financial reporting
  • Own government contracting finance infrastructure, including indirect rates, incurred cost submissions, and audit readiness (DCAA/DCMA)
  • Drive budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning, providing actionable insights to leadership
  • Partner with Program and Operations teams to improve financial discipline, margin performance, and forecasting accuracy
  • Oversee month-end close, revenue recognition, and GAAP-compliant reporting
  • Prepare and present Board-level financial reporting packages
  • Support pricing strategy, corporate development, and potential M&A or diligence activities
  • Enhance systems, reporting, and processes to support continued growth
  • Manage banking relationships, cash flow, and liquidity planning
Qualifications
  • 10+ years of progressive finance experience, with a strong foundation in government contracting
  • Experience supporting FFP, T&M, Cost-Plus, and IDIQ contract structures
  • Deep knowledge of DCAA compliance, FAR/CAS, indirect rate structures, and audit processes
  • Experience with Deltek Costpoint strongly preferred
  • Proven leadership experience managing and developing teams
  • Background in a private equity-backed or high-growth environment preferred
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence senior leadership and stakeholders
  • CPA and/or MBA preferred
