JOB SUMMARY: MSI seeks a Senior Controller to be responsible for leading the accounting operations, financial reporting, and internal control environment. Reporting to the CFO, the Senior Controller ensures accurate and timely financial reporting, enhances internal controls, and provides leadership in budgeting, compliance, and financial process improvement.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Reporting
  • Ensure timely and accurate monthly and quarterly close
  • Prepare and review reconciliations, journal entries and accounting estimates
  • Ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP and internal policies
  • Maintain consistency and discipline across accounting processes
  • Serve as primary accounting lead for internal audits

Financial Insight and Analysis
  • Analyze monthly results, variances, and trends
  • Support annual budgeting and reforecasting by ensuring reliable baseline data
  • Analyze margins, cost drivers, and operational performance metrics
  • Translate accounting results into clear, business relevant insights
  • Support short term cash forecasting in coordination with the CFO
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting and operational processes

Internal Controls, Compliance and Risk
  • Maintain and enhance the internal control environment
  • Ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures
  • Support SOX compliance and internal audit activities
  • Identify controls gaps and financial and operational risks within accounting and transactional processes

Business Partnership, Process and Scalability
  • Act as a financial partner to operations and department leaders
  • Support due diligence for acquisitions, large projects or strategic initiatives
  • Drive continuous improvement across accounting and finance processes
  • Standardize procedures to support growth and scalability

Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • CPA preferred
  • 8-12+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience
  • Experience in management and leadership of accounting teams
  • Construction industry experience a plus

  • Strong GAAP and financial reporting expertise
  • Financial analysis and business acumen
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and financial systems
  • Excellent communications skills with the ability to explain financial information to non-finance leaders and build strong relationships across the organization
