Controller โ€“ Construction, Development & Commercial Properties

Position Summary

The Controller is responsible for overseeing all accounting, financial reporting, and internal controls for a small but active construction, ground-up real estate development, and commercial property ownership company. This hands-on role supports the full real estate lifecycle from land acquisition through stabilized operations and works directly with ownership and senior leadership.

Key Responsibilities

โ€ข Oversee day-to-day accounting operations including general ledger, AP, AR, payroll, and cash management
โ€ข Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
โ€ข Manage job costing and percentage-of-completion accounting
โ€ข Track development costs, including land, soft costs, hard costs, financing, and capitalized interest
โ€ข Coordinate construction loan draws and lender reporting
โ€ข Oversee commercial property accounting, rent rolls, CAM reconciliations, and operating budgets
โ€ข Establish internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures
โ€ข Coordinate tax filings, audits, and reviews with external CPAs
โ€ข Collaborate with project managers, property management, and ownership

Qualifications

โ€ข Preferred Bachelorโ€™s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
โ€ข 7+ years of accounting experience with construction and ground-up development
