Job description

The Triage & Root Cause Analysis Engineer owns infotainment and connectivity issue resolution from first contact through validated root cause closure. The role spans structured front-end triage, vehicle/bench reproduction, log collection and software log analysis, returned parts investigation, and corrective action enablement — operating at the center of Warranty Issue execution in both war room and hands-on engineering environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Triage incoming issues from field reports, customer verbatims, internal fleets, and validation findings; translate symptoms into reproducible failure modes.
  • Reproduce issues on production vehicles, bench, HIL/VHIL environments; validate SW level, vehicle config, and variant coding.
  • Validate issue conditions, frequency, triggers, and environmental dependencies; confirm scope and severity before escalation.
  • Group issues by customer symptom to identify systemic root causes; correlate warranty claims with internal fleet data to prioritize investigations.
  • Capture and analyze CAN/LIN/Ethernet traces, radio and infotainment application logs, Bluetooth/Wi-Fi/cellular traces, crash logs, and boot events.
  • Leverage software development knowledge to parse, interpret, and debug application-level and OS-level software logs; identify code-level failure signatures.
  • Ensure traceability to SW versions, release timing, and vehicle architecture; correlate warranty claims, IDS complaints, and returned parts behavior across programs.
  • Verify log integrity and completeness; ensure correct logging configurations are enabled prior to reproduction activities.
3- Returned Parts Analysis
  • Lead technical analysis of returned infotainment/connectivity ECUs: extract logs, validate SW/config levels, perform hardware inspection and electrical validation.
  • Compare failed units to known-good; coordinate supplier failure analysis; determine root cause category (HW defect, SW defect, integration/config, or environmental).
4- Structured Root Cause Identification
  • Apply 8D, 5-Why, and Fault Tree methodologies; develop hypothesis-driven investigation plans and validate root cause with reproducible evidence.
  • Define corrective action validation requirements; ensure closure criteria are met; identify recurrence risks pre- and post-SOP.
  • Collaborate with Issue Resolution, Validation, Radio, Infotainment, Quality, and Supplier teams; participate in triage meetings, ride-and-drives, and investigation sessions.
  • Document reproduction steps, results, and artifacts in issue tracking systems; maintain accurate issue categorization, tagging, and evidence traceability.
  • Identify gaps in reproducibility, logging, or tooling and drive continuous process improvement.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience reading and analyzing embedded or automotive software logs; scripting or development background strongly preferred.
  • 3+ years in automotive development, validation, triage, or vehicle-level investigation roles.
  • Hands-on experience with vehicles, bench/lab environments, and infotainment/connectivity ECU diagnostics.
