Job description

The opportunity
The Total Rewards Partner serves as an advisor to senior leaders within one of Unity's five business functions (Grow & AI, Engineering/Product, COO, G&A, or Sales & Marketing) and is a core member of the People "Trio" alongside Talent Strategy and Talent Acquisition. In this role, you will partner closely with senior functional leaders to design, implement, and deliver Unity's compensation and headcount planning programs. You will be trusted to operate with a high degree of autonomy and judgment, leveraging centralized rewards expertise as needed, while applying your knowledge of advanced compensation, market insights, and business acumen to ensure Unity's programs remain competitive, equitable, and aligned with functional priorities.

What you'll be doing

  • As part of the "Trio," partner closely to ensure seamless communication and alignment while serving as the primary advisor to functional leaders on compensation and headcount planning, including guidance on pay programs and workforce investments.
  • Participate in functional leadership meetings (staff, offsites, QBRs) as an embedded member of the Talent Leadership Trio
  • Advise on compensation matters for hires, promotions, retention, reorganizations, and business transformations up to and including SVP, ensuring alignment to Unity's philosophy and governance
  • Interpret and apply job architecture, salary ranges, equity refresh frameworks, and recognition programs in a business-relevant way, leveraging centralized Compensation and Equity teams where deeper expertise is required
  • Monitor market trends, pay practices, promotion velocity, and recognition patterns; surface risks and recommend course corrections to function and Total Rewards leadership
  • Facilitate and administer compensation cycles and off-cycle programs, bringing business context to investment decisions and calibration discussions
  • Provide structured feedback to centralized Compensation and Benefits teams on program effectiveness, edge cases, and evolving business needs
  • Utilize the Compensation Analyst - Programs & Total Rewards Enablement for complex, project-based analyses and ensure efficient use of support resources
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Unity's Total Rewards programs and relevant market developments through ongoing partnership with centralized teams

What we're looking for

  • Hands-on experience in compensation, rewards, or total rewards consulting, preferably in a technology or high-growth environment
  • Demonstrated ability to advise business leaders on compensation strategy, pay decisions, and market trends
  • Familiarity with market pricing, incentive/bonus plan administration, or equity programs; ability to learn and scale quickly into advanced areas as needed
  • Strong analytical, spreadsheets, and communication skills; experience with Workday, Pave, or similar systems preferred
