Job description

The Benefits Consultant supports Business Consultants by developing and executing the overall benefits strategy, including assessing current offerings, presenting proposed plan options, updating contribution models, finalizing benefit selections, and negotiating final rates for all Master Plan Benefits programs. They serve as the benefits expert for their assigned sales region, maintaining active Group Life & Health Insurance Licenses in all relevant states, and are responsible for managing their territory effectively while also providing national support as needed. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Lead the effective communication and presentation of the company's Benefits Program to internal teams, consultants, and external stakeholders. Negotiate, refine, and finalize benefits offerings in partnership with carriers and internal business partners. Manage and optimize performance within the assigned territory, ensuring strong execution of benefits strategy and service delivery. Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with Business Consultants, acting as the primary benefits expert and strategic partner. Develop and refine comprehensive benefits strategies that align with organizational goals and evolving client needs. Monitor, interpret, and advise on current benefits and market trends to guide strategic recommendations. Evaluate openmarket benefit offerings and carrier options to support informed comparisons and decisionmaking. Demonstrate deep expertise in medical benefit plan designs, cost structures, and regulatory requirements. Provide expert guidance on ancillary benefits, including dental, vision, disability, and related products. Advise on voluntary benefits and ensure offerings remain competitive and aligned with employee expectations. Oversee adherence to benefit implementation requirements, rules, and timelines to ensure accurate and timely execution. Create, analyze, and optimize contribution models to support pricing, budgeting, and strategic positioning. Apply expert knowledge of underwriting rules, guidelines, and rating methodologies when assessing plan options Regular attendance at the assigned work location for our corporate office locations is an essential job function. For team members who are located in or near the Chandler, AZ or Duluth, GA offices, this is an in-office position Marginal Functions Build, maintain and promote relationships with team members, peers across disciplines, and all other company team members ensuring effective coordination of communications and services affecting clients. Attend conferences, fairs, or regional events when beneficial but not essential to the operational success of the role. Offer support to other regions or team members during absences or peak workloads, outside core territory responsibilities. Conduct supplemental research on benefits topics or carrier updates that enhance team awareness but are not required for immediate business decisions.
Attend webinars and training to stay up to date on best practices related to the company and department. Complete projects and other duties as assigned by supervisor. Works independently with strong initiative, accountability, and a commitment to achieving outstanding results. Capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously while consistently delivering successful outcomes. Able to clearly articulate complex benefits concepts and effectively train or support stakeholders within the assigned sales region. Develops strong, collaborative working relationships across teams, clients, and carriers to support shared goals and business success. Education & Experience Bachelors degree required or equivalent combination of experience, skills, education (including other relevant non-traditional degree programs, or job training programs) preferred. Minimum of 3-5 years of insurance experience preferred Experience in Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Teams, Excel, PowerPoint) and demonstrated ability to learn other applications as needed. Required Licenses and/or Certifications Active Broker's Group Life & Health license required.
