JDS Law, Inc.

Temecula, CA โ€ข On-site, Remote

$31 - $41/hr

Full-time, Part-time

Posted 19 days ago

Job description

Are you an experienced Litigation Paralegal who takes pride in running cases with precision, ownership, and professionalism? JDS Law empowers California businesses to solve their employment challengesโ€”both in and out of courtโ€”so they can focus on their business, not lawsuits. If this mission resonates with you, then please keep reading.

JDS Law is a Temecula-based firm where paralegals are trusted teammates โ€“ not task-takers โ€“ and where high standards are paired with reasonable workloads and real support. If you thrive seeing a case through from beginning to end, have at least 2 yearsโ€™ recent experience as a paralegal supporting litigators in California courts, and if you want your career to provide fulfilling work, a supportive and stimulating environment, and a reasonable workload, we want to hear from you.

Compensation:

$31 - $41 hourly

Responsibilities:
  • This role is best suited for a paralegal who can independently manage litigation files from pleadings through trial with minimal supervision.
  • Draft legal forms and documents, including pleadings, motions, settlement agreements, and formal discovery requests and responses, including interrogatories, document requests, subpoenas, and requests for admission.
  • Manage the discovery and litigation calendar and track deadlines.
  • Interact with clients, court clerks, probate examiners, witnesses, and opposing counsel.
  • Organize and prepare summaries of documents, depositions, court transcripts, witness testimony, and discovery, and make recommendations to the attorney.
  • Perform legal research, including statutory and case law, confirm local rules and applicable procedures, and work with attorneys to develop legal arguments.
  • Ensure attorneys are prepared for court appearances through trial, compile and organize trial preparation materials, and assist in the courtroom.
  • Minimum billable and collected hours: 1,450 per year for full-time. We prioritize high-quality, sustainable work โ€“ not burnout.ย

Qualifications:
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years of recent, hands-on California civil litigation (employment preferred; probate disputes a plus).
  • Education: completion of an approved paralegal program or equivalent law-related work experience as a paralegal.
  • Strong working knowledge of California Rules of Court and Code of Civil Procedure โ€“ this is not a training role.
  • Comfortable drafting pleadings, discovery, and motions with minimal revision.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office/365 preferred. Familiarity with Clio Manage is a plus.
