The Opportunity

WP Engine is looking for a motivated, curious Business Development Representative (BDR) to help execute a new outbound growth motion and source net-new business for our North America Acquisition team. You will find and connect with high-potential accounts, build trust with technical and executive stakeholders, uncover important business challenges, and create qualified opportunities for our sellers.

As an early member of Project Trailblazer, you will do more than execute a playbook-you will help shape it.

You will help shape a new outbound motion by testing messaging, sharing market insights, and partnering with Sales, Marketing, Operations, and Enablement.

This is a hybrid role. Our sales organization works from our Austin, TX office each Tuesday and Thursday.

The Day to Day

  • Partner with Acquisition Account Executives to prospect into target accounts through phone, email, LinkedIn, and other outbound strategies.

  • Research accounts, stakeholders, and buying signals to create personalized outreach.

  • Qualify prospects through discovery conversations and schedule high-quality meetings.

  • Preparestrongseller handoffs by documenting the prospect's context, business problem, stakeholders, timing, risks, and agreed next step.

  • Maintainaccurateactivity and pipeline data in Salesforce and related sales tools.

  • Leverage tools like Clay, Gong Engage, LinkedIn, and AI to improve productivity and outreach.

  • Continuously refine your approach through coaching, data, and collaboration across teams.

  • Share objections, market signals, persona insights, and campaign feedback with Sales, Marketing, Operations, and Enablement to improve the outbound playbook.

Your Expertise and Passion

  • 1+ year of business development, non-tech sales or customer-facing experience with measurable goals; outbound prospecting experience preferred.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage technical and executive audiences.

  • Curious, coachable, resilient, and motivated to build a long-term career in sales.

  • Organized, self-driven, and comfortable managing pipeline activity in Salesforce or a similar CRM.

  • Experience with sales engagement platforms and consultative sales methodologies (SPIN, Sandler, Solution Selling, etc.) is a plus.

  • Comfortable learning new technologies and using AI tools to improve research, personalization, and outreach while maintaining a customer-first approach.

Base Salary / Variable / OTE

$50,000 base, $20,000 variable, $70,000 OTE
