Job description

Position: Director, Market and Business Development - Healthcare and Life Sciences Ecosystems

Locations: Dallas, TX; Austin, TX; Ashburn, VA; Seattle, WA; New York, NY; Boston, MA

About your role

As the Director, Market and Business Development -Healthcare and Life Sciences Ecosystems, you will take charge of our global ecosystem initiatives for our Healthcare & Life Sciences vertical with the relevant enterprise accounts together with our service provider community across cloud, application platform, and key technology and delivery partners. As a key member of the Market & Business Development team, you will identify and assess market opportunity and what it takes to capture it at scale. The role will lead building deep relationships with targeted accounts, develop a keen understanding of their infrastructure needs, and connect our product and capital investments to meet their growth ambitions. 

What you'll do

  • Define and execute a differentiated ecosystem strategy for the Healthcare & Life Sciences vertical, including priority markets, target customers, and strategic partners.
  • Lead business development for selected enterprise accounts, representing Digital Realty in high-impact customer and partner engagements.
  • Build and deepen executive relationships with key stakeholders across healthcare, life sciences, and the broader service provider community.
  • Align cross-functional teams (sales, product, and commercial) around long-term account strategies and growth objectives.
  • Shape and expand strategic alliances with technology vendors and industry partners across pharmaceuticals, biotech, medtech, healthcare, insurance, research organizations, and startups.
  • Assess market opportunities and translate customer infrastructure needs into scalable ecosystem and investment strategies.
  • Provide ongoing market intelligence on industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitive dynamics to inform ecosystem and partnership decisions.
  • Track and advance target account deployments through a disciplined pursuit model to drive measurable ecosystem growth.
  • Influence market planning and capital investment decisions by serving as the voice of the customer and aligning development strategy to partner requirements.
  • Act as an internal and external thought leader for the Healthcare & Life Sciences ecosystem, representing customer needs and Digital Realty's value in the market.

What you need

  • Bachelor's degree; MBA a plus 
  • 15+ years business experience in a Healthcare & Life Sciences company or IT vendor focused on this vertical.
  • Strong track record in partnerships, alliances, or business development within the Healthcare & Life Sciences technology ecosystem.
  • Established Network: A strong network of industry experts, customers, suppliers, and partners at decision-making and influencer level. 
  • Proven and ability to travel internationally as needed.  Track Record: Extensive experience in business development or strategic selling within the Healthcare & Life Sciences IT industry, with a history of delivering measurable results. 
  • Business Development Skills: Exceptional ability to articulate value propositions and close complex partnership agreements in a multinational, senior-level setting.
