Position Summary:
Reporting to a Student Recruitment Manager, this role will provide quality advice and service on a diverse range of admissions matters to applicants, students, staff,andthegeneral public. Plans, coordinates, andparticipatesin individual and/or team virtual and in-person visitsrepresentingMcGill to Canadian and International High Schools. Participates in McGill undergraduate recruitment events, targeting prospective students, applicants, admitted and confirmed students, parents and counselors, including virtual and on and off campus events. Presents information and promotional material about McGill, including undergraduate admissions criteria, academic programs, student life and services, and our campuses. Participates with other members of the recruitment team in recruitment activitiesrepresentingMcGill. Uses the current recruiting software and data to plan, schedule, and track activities. Supports social media campaigns for prospective and admitted students.
Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provides admissions, recruitment, scholarships, and student services information and supports the University's mission of academic excellence.

  • Maintains good rapport with clients and staff within the unit and the University community byidentifyingneeds and ensuring work is performedin accordance withestablished Enrolment Service goals andobjectivesand the University's overall mission.

  • Participates in the implementation of new initiatives that support the strategic direction of the unit by keeping abreast of new developments, technology, and trends in the field of admissions and recruitment.

  • Acts as the subject matter expert for Canadian and International applicants byremainingaware of market activity through targeted observations, professional networks, and reports.

  • Representsthe Recruitment team on working groups, projectteamsand committees, asrequired.

  • Works with Unit on MS TEAMS tomaintaincommunication and organization of events.

  • Participates and supports recruitment trainings and takes part in professional development activitiesin order toremain well informed of university practices and programs and ensures strong delivery of information and support of our prospective students and their support networks.

  • Participates in the planning recruitment activities, suggesting improvements to the recruitment process to maximize the number of qualified applicants.

  • RepresentsMcGill unaccompanied, attends in-person and virtual High Schools visits, and university fairsand prepares presentations and documents, and ensures meetings and follow up with counsellors (as needed).

  • Prepares travel schedules, makes travel arrangements, monitors trip budget,updates the relationship management system,preparesvisit reports, and expense reports upon return and makes suggestions for future improvements.

  • Ensures follow-up on issues and /or problems raised during and after visits.

  • Facilitates the participation of McGill faculty and staff at recruitment and yield events.

  • Proposes andparticipatesin a variety of on-campus and virtual recruitment activities, including hosting webinars through Zoom, Slate, Webex, as well as 1:1 meetings, drop-in sessions, fairs hosted by third parties, contributes to social media campaigns, and digital contentcreation).

  • Supports the Welcome Centre, by meeting with prospective student visitors and answering individual questions, mentoring student ambassadors, and including them in virtual recruitment activities.

  • Participates inMcGillSummerAcademy, byhelping execute set up during events andsupervision of participants.May be called upon to support theMcGill Summer AcademyManagerwithorganization of the programas needed.

  • Proven experience in data analysis: ability to review statistics and reports, condense, recap, and evaluate datain order topropose and plan effective recruitment activities.

  • Provides administrative support as necessary (answering emails, organizing promotional material and mailings, setting up events in new student relationship management system).


Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities

  • Experience advising potential students on admissions criteria.

  • Knowledge of the student life cycle an asset.

  • McGill undergraduate experience an asset.

  • Proven organizational skills, ability to prioritize, and multi-task accurately with attention to detail.

  • Experience working in a PC environment using databases(CRM), presentation software, web tools, and Microsoft Teams.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, public speaking, and writing skills.

  • Proven experience organizing events and fairs locally and at out-of-town venues.

  • Experience with creation of dynamic presentations, an asset.

  • U15 Canadian University collaborationand/orpanelexperienceisa definite asset.

  • Proven ability to work autonomously and as a member of a team.

  • Experienceas a School Counsellor or Career Advisoradefinite asset.

  • Valid Driver's license and valid Canadian Passport.

  • Ability to travel extensively and work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.

  • Fluently bilingual, English and French, spoken and written. Knowledge of other languages a definiteasset(Arabic,PortugueseandSpanish.
