Records Analysts are professionals who manage, organize, and maintain an organization's records and documents. They are responsible for ensuring that information is accurately recorded, easily retrievable, and securely stored in compliance with legal and regulatory standards. Their work often includes developing record-keeping systems, overseeing document retention and disposal, and providing guidance on information management practices. Records Analysts play a key role in helping organizations improve efficiency and reduce risks related to information governance.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a records analyst, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Records Analyst, you need a strong background in records management, attention to detail, and an understanding of data privacy regulations, usually supported by a degree in information management or a related field. Familiarity with electronic records management systems (ERMS), document imaging, and compliance standards such as HIPAA or GDPR is essential. Excellent organizational skills, analytical thinking, and effective communication are standout soft skills for this role.
