Job description

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION

The Reconciliation Clerk is responsible for the daily, weekly and monthly balancing of teller cash and other cash item related accounts. They are also responsible for the balancing of correspondence due from bank accounts. This includes the daily balancing of all internal DDA accounts such as cashiers' checks, interest checks, etc. This employee will work closely with branch staff regarding various balancing issues.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Balance teller cash and other cash items, GL accounts, and all correspondence due from bank GL accounts. 

2. Monitor the activity in all internal accounts and make the appropriate entries. 

3. Reconcile specific internal accounts including cashiers' checks, expense checks, and CD interest checks. 

4. Reconcile other balance sheet related accounts for monthly reporting. This duty is performed monthly, about 5% of the time.

5. Prepare daily entries for the CD Account Registry Service (CDARS) interest, and update weekly CDARS renewals and additions. 

6. Act as backup for processing the daily repurchase agreements using the repurchase program. 

7. Act as backup for rates changes in Bankway system based on the HBI rate table and e-mails from the regions. This duty is performed daily.

8. Upload account reconciliations into reconciliation software for storage & approval. 

9. Prepare the weekly 401K and other employee benefit account wires and post entries. 

10. Assist with acqusitions as it relates to their primary job functions and research and resolve issues. 

11. Communicate with branch staff regarding GL account issues and assist them with outages. 

12. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.

13. Completes required BSA/AML training and other compliance training as assigned. 

14. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Knowledge of a specialized field (however acquired), such as basic accounting, computer, etc. Equivalent of four years in high school, plus night, trade extension, or correspondence school specialized training, equal to two years of college, plus 3 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Ability to read and understand simple instructions, short correspondence, notes, letters and memos; Ability to write simple correspondence.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to prepare and interpret bar graphs.

CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS

Ability to use common sense understanding in order to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few known variables in situations of a routine nature.
