Job description

General Duties & Responsibilities:

  • The Freddie Mac (FHLMC) Reconciliation Consultant will review and reconcile the mortgage servicing organization's FHLMC accounts.
  • Perform Freddie Mac monthly reconciliations and completion of Required Monthly Forms utilizing MSP standard reports, with a critical priority being the confirmation of the correct daily, weekly, and monthly processes to identify and clear any discrepancies. Specifically, the candidate:
  • Must understand the Freddie Mac Reconciliation Bulletin 2025-2, issued 2/12/25, which FHLMC created to ensure accurate loan-level records to eliminate inaccurate edits. FHLMC updated its Guide Section 8303.5 to require Servicers to reconcile their internal records with Freddie Mac investor reporting system records monthly.
  • Must understand that within 30 days after the end of each Accounting Cycle, the Servicer must reconcile each data element included in the monthly Freddie Mac Trial Balance report (i.e., interest-bearing UPB, non-interest-bearing UPB, DDLPI, principal and interest constant, Note Rate, and Accounting Net Yield to its internal records.
  • Must understand that servicers must prepare a separate monthly reconciliation for each unique Seller/Servicer number on either the online version of the new Guide Form 75, Reconciliation of Mortgage Portfolio, or a copy that is an exact replica of the form. Upon Freddie Mac's request, the Servicer must be able to provide Freddie Mac with a copy of the completed Form 75, together with any supporting documentation, for up to one year from the date of the related reconciliation worksheet. All documentation must be received by Freddie Mac no later than the requested due date.
  • Must be able to perform reconciliations and put written procedures in place to support Servicer adoption of the portfolio reconciliation process, which started March 1, 2025, and goes through June 30, 2026. Freddie Mac will waive contract noncompliance and not charge compensatory fees (approx. $500 per loan), provided the servicer acts prior to July 1, 2026. Beginning on July 1, 2026, data corrections identified through the monthly portfolio reconciliation process will be subject to contract noncompliance and will be charged a $500 compensatory fee per erroneous loan, in accordance with Section 8303.43.
Requirements:
  • Must have "hands-on" Mortgage Servicing/Mortgage Banking Account Reconciliation experience in the Freddie Mac FHLMC domain.
  • Must be able to create and provide training documentation for the purpose of supporting adoption of the revised reconciliation process in the FHLMC Reconciliation Bulletin 2025-2 and teach that process to client staff.
  • Assess the staff's ability to re-reconcile prior reconciliations with inaccurate edits, and determine the amount of time it will take to teach the staff to re-reconcile the previously-submitted reconciliations, or complete the reconciliations themselves.
