Position Title: Purchasing Agent

Reports to: Purchasing Manager

Summary of Position:

The Purchasing Agent is responsible for procuring materials, components, and special process services that support aerospace production and program schedules. This role combines advanced purchasing expertise with supplier management, cost control, and deep understanding of aerospace quality and regulatory requirements.

Essential Functions:

Daily roles include collaborating in a team-oriented environment with cross functional workers.

  • The purchasing agent negotiates vendor terms, prices and schedules delivery using knowledge of budget and schedule requirements.
  • Initiates purchase orders based on business requirements and inventory levels.
  • Adheres to purchasing policies, processes and procedures.
  • Uses knowledge of material work planning and methods engineering processes and procedures to coordinate product deliveries.
  • Negotiates best vendor terms, pricing and delivery based on specific budget and schedule requirements.
  • Use knowledge of machines and equipment to schedule items necessary to continual production cycles.
  • Must contribute to corporate quality policy and objectives.
  • Maintain accurate filing system for all purchasing documentation
  • Expedites delayed orders
  • Must communicate regularly with Purchasing Manager and Manufacturing Managers regarding vendor response and performance relative to projects.

Supplier Quality Assurance:

  • Evaluate new suppliers – QMS, DPD, Special Processes and ITAR.
  • Monitor and measure supplier performance.
  • Supplier quality problem resolution.
  • Maintain records and submit for management review.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Competencies:

  • Thorough knowledge of manufacturing process relates to the purchasing environment.
  • Thorough knowledge of vendor and material base.
  • Technical Capacity.
  • Financial Management.
  • Communication Proficiency.
  • Time Management.
  • Decision Making.
  • High School Diploma or recognized equivalent.
  • Three or more years relative experience.
