The Purchasing Agent uses a sales forecasting system to plan and execute purchase orders while maintaining optimal inventory levels to meet customer demand. This role coordinates with brand managers, suppliers, Fedway's warehouse, transportation providers, and internal teams to schedule deliveries, monitor inventory, resolve supply chain issues, and ensure product availability. The Purchasing Agent also maintains accurate purchasing records and proactively communicates with brand managers and vendors to support an efficient supply chain.
Core Responsibilities:
- Order Processing: Creating purchase orders, tracking shipments, and verifying deliveries.
- Inventory Control: Monitoring stock levels to prevent shortages or over-purchasing.
- Collaboration: Working with brand managers to ensure upcoming programs and events are appropriately factored into purchases.
- Communication: Clearly communicating with the warehouse, sales teams, and vendors about supply chain or logistical issues.
- Record Keeping: Maintaining accurate files of all purchases, pricing, and invoices.
Job Requirements:
- Education: High school diploma or a bachelor's degree in business, finance, or supply chain management.
- Skills: Strong negotiation, math, and problem-solving abilities.
- Tech Literacy: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and inventory or enterprise software
Physical Demands:
- Regularly required to sit, stand, and move about the office
- Computer work
Compensation:
- Salary starts at $67,000/annually commensurate with experience.
