What is a procurement agent?

A procurement agent purchases goods for a client or company. As a procurement agent, your job duties include preparing purchasing orders, requesting goods from suppliers with valued prices, negotiating business contracts with vendors, and providing information or updates on shipping. You may also occasionally travel to conferences or trade shows to find and develop relationships with potential suppliers.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a procurement agent, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Procurement Agent, you need strong negotiation, analytical, and contract management skills, often supported by a bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business, or a related field. Familiarity with procurement software such as SAP Ariba, Oracle Procurement Cloud, and knowledge of sourcing and inventory management systems is essential. Outstanding communication, attention to detail, and relationship-building abilities set top professionals apart. These skills ensure effective supplier management, cost savings, and seamless procurement processes that align with organizational goals.

Both roles require similar certifications and often work in related industries, but Procurement Agents typically have a broader strategic role.

How does a procurement agent typically collaborate with other departments within an organization?

Procurement Agents work closely with multiple departments such as finance, operations, and legal to ensure that purchasing decisions align with organizational goals. They often coordinate with end-users to clarify requirements, negotiate with suppliers, and involve legal teams for contract reviews. Effective communication and collaboration are essential to manage timelines, budgets, and compliance, making cross-department teamwork a central part of the role.

Join a Team That Keeps Manufacturing Moving

Are you a highly organized, solution-driven professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment? Killdeer Mountain Manufacturing (KMM) is looking for a Procurement Agent to play a critical role in ensuring our production teams have the materials they need, exactly when they need them. In this position, you'll work directly with suppliers, purchasing systems, and internal stakeholders to drive on-time material delivery, reduce inventory costs, and support production success. If you enjoy problem-solving, building strong relationships, and making a measurable impact on business operations, this is your opportunity to shine.

Make an Impact Every Day

You'll be a vital link between suppliers, customers, and manufacturing teams while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen efficiency and profitability. We're seeking a detail-oriented professional with strong communication skills, a passion for accuracy, and either an Associate Degree in Business, Accounting, or a related field-or at least two years of experience in Supply Chain, Procurement, or a related industry. If you're ready to take ownership, drive results, and grow your career with a company that values innovation and teamwork, we want to hear from you.

Apply today and become part of the KMM team!
