This role is part of Alcon's Engineering function, a team focused on improving quality, processes, products, packaging and materials across our business to help deliver brilliant outcomes. The Associate II, Manufacturing Science & Technology Engineering (Science/Tech/Engineering Path), is primarily responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating new production materials, equipment, and technologies. You will conduct research, perform feasibility tests, and collaborate with vendors and partner functions, requiring advanced technical knowledge and problem-solving skills.
In this role, a typical day will include:
  • Handle complex tasks and contribute to advanced projects using your expertise
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate new production materials, equipment, and technologies before mass production
  • Complete manufacturing research and development to address production cost and quality issues
  • Conduct technical feasibility tests to ensure production efficiency
  • Evaluate project capacity for production process design and development
  • Develop and implement standard manufacturing procedures
  • Evaluate production processes to reduce costs and determine product quality standards
  • Arrange equipment and tools to support production
  • Select and communicate with vendors to determine product specifications and ensure timely, budget-compliant delivery
  • Engage with partner functions such as Research and Development, commercial, and quality
  • Make significant decisions within your project area, influencing outcomes
  • Adhere to Good Practice regulations by following Standard Operating Procedures, maintaining documentation, ensuring quality control, and completing required training
  • Meet individual job requirements and contribute to organizational compliance

Essential Functions:
  • Designing arrangement of manufacturing drawings to ensure most efficient and productive layout.
  • Providing guidance to product design engineering on technical specifications that will best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.
  • Ensuring that production processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations.
  • Assisting with various Product Configuration Management projects
  • Assisting with various software validations
  • Assisting with SAP material set-up/documentation/maintenance/troubleshooting material master related issues
  • Assisting with drawing related tasks
  • Assisting with Change Controls and procedure updates
  • Assisting with managing Bill of Material/Router set up and maintenance.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO ALCON:
  • Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +8 yrs; Assoc.+4 yrs)
  • The ability to fluently read, write, understand and communicate in English
  • Location: Onsite Houston, TX

Preferred Qualifications/Skills/Experience:
