Job Overview:
Qualcomm is looking for a Project Analyst to join our Intellectual Property - Open Systems Legal Group responsible for managing the review, approval, and risk mitigation process for AI models, open source software, and dataset usage. This role supports our Attorneys while collaborating cross-functionally with enterprise-wide product teams (engineers, program managers, product managers) on compliance reviews to manage regulatory, licensing, and IP risk. In addition, this position plays a key role in developing processes and tools to make our operations more efficient and scalable. The Project Analyst will:
  • Manage a large docket of open source, dataset, and AI model review requests in collaboration with our team of Attorneys
    • Conduct intake to gather the information necessary to process review requests
    • Monitor progress throughout the request lifecycle and initiate action for timely completion, as needed
    • Keep request status current in our request management tool (Jira)
    • Lead periodic docket meetings with Attorneys and clients to address requests needing attention
    • Understand business models, products, roadmaps, and software development practices for assigned clients
    • Interact cross-functionally with all levels of product team and legal personnel at domestic and foreign locations
    • Contribute ideas for optimizing our business processes and tools to continually improve operations
  • Serve as the lead for one or more department operational tools
    • Tools include Jira request management, SharePoint department website, Moodle learning management system (online training delivery), QlikView/Tableau metric reporting
    • Drive a variety of cross-functional projects based on new or evolving business needs
    • Lead cross-functional requirements gathering, process definition, and solution design
    • Validate solutions with stakeholders and manage implementation
    • Develop supporting procedures, documentation, and training for compliance and product teams
  • Learn and stay current regarding open source compliance best practices, IP trends, and related Qualcomm practices
  • Provide administrative support to management and the team including potential transition of responsibilities from existing Project Analyst.

Required for This Role:
  • 1-2 years' experience working in a team-based, business environment
  • Basic knowledge of compliance practices, or the ability to demonstrate a strong willingness to learn
  • Experience in legal, engineering, or project management functions
  • Ability to optimize business processes, and author effective procedures
  • Ability to lead efficient meetings and deliver effective presentations to small, medium, and large groups
  • Ability to quickly understand new processes and learn new tools
  • Strong organizational, critical thinking, problem solving, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to effectively plan and organize diverse workload to meet defined timelines
  • Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability to accommodate diverse workstyles
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills when working with all levels of personnel
  • Proficiency in Microsoft (or similar) Tools: Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Sharepoint

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Paralegal certificate, PMP certification or tech program management
  • Familiarity with software development lifecycles
  • Advanced knowledge of open source compliance practices
  • Basic programming skills or knowledge of the software development process
  • Prior experience developing training programs
  • Experience collaborating with IT on business solutions (requirements through implementation)
  • Comfortable progressing in the face of ambiguity, and creative in overcoming obstacles
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Tools: Visio, Project, CoPilot
  • Experience working with ticketing tools such as Jira

Pay range and Other Compensation & Benefits:
$32.70 - $49.04
The above pay scale reflects the broad, minimum to maximum, pay scale for this job code for the location for which it has been posted. Even more importantly, please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Qualcomm. We also offer a competitive annual discretionary bonus program and opportunity for annual RSU grants (employees on sales-incentive plans are not eligible for our annual bonus).
