Job description

Support mission-critical programs for the Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center (AFNWC) and USSTRATCOM as a Program Manager, Junior (Jr PM). The Jr. Program Manager will assist senior Program Managers in guiding acquisition programs, ensuring compliance with DoD directives, and supporting modernization initiatives. This position offers an opportunity to work in a classified, high-visibility environment, contributing to the success of complex IT and mission systems.

JOB SUMMARY: The Junior Program Manager will provide acquisition and program management support to AFNWC and USSTRATCOM programs. Responsibilities include assisting PMs with program execution, analyzing policy guidance, preparing acquisition documentation, and supporting Agile software development processes. This role is critical for maintaining program cost, schedule, and performance objectives while enabling modernization and transformation efforts.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Assist PMs in ensuring programs comply with DoD directives (DoDI 5000 series, NDAA Section 804) and approved Acquisition Program Baselines.
  • Support analysis of policy issues and guidance from USD(A&S), SAF/AQ, and PEO impacting programs.
  • Provide acquisition support to maintain program execution and battle rhythm; assist in developing program schedules and reports.
  • Review acquisition documents (e.g., Acquisition Strategies, Risk Management Plans, APBs) and provide comments for consistency and accuracy.
  • Support cost, schedule, and performance tracking; assist in risk management and mitigation.
  • Prepare and maintain program documentation, including briefings, reports, and statutory/regulatory submissions (DAES, MAR).
  • Assist in implementing Agile software development processes and maintaining software development backlogs.
  • Support user engagement activities, gathering feedback on software features and usability.
  • Coordinate and document IPT meetings, PMRs, and technical reviews; prepare agendas and meeting minutes.
  • Assist in managing activity-level schedules for acquisition projects and preparing 90-day look-ahead reports.
  • Support delivery and accountability of Government Furnished Information and classified material.
  • Provide administrative support for program management processes, including research, data collection, and drafting communications.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 10+ years of experience in program management or acquisition support within DoD or government environments.
  • Knowledge of DoD acquisition principles, policies, and practices (DoDI 5000 series, NDAA Section 804).
  • Familiarity with Agile software development processes and backlog management.
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for preparing reports and briefings.

PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience supporting AFNWC, USSTRATCOM, or similar DoD organizations.
  • Familiarity with JCIDS documentation and Software Acquisition Pathway processes.
  • Understanding of risk management and cost/schedule analysis techniques.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, classified environment.
  • Prior experience in AFNWC/NCC or similar DoD organizations.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: Master’s degree in related field
