Job Title Assistant Director - Admissions (Transfer) Nature of Work
Responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating a comprehensive recruitment strategy focused on recruiting, enrolling, and supporting new transfer students. This position serves as a primary representative of Wayne State College to prospective transfer students, community colleges, and other external partners while contributing to the overall enrollment goals of the College. This includes frequent travel to partner community college campuses and attendance at transfer college fairs and other events.
Examples of Work Performed
- Meet enrollment goals for new transfer student recruitment
- Present the College and the Admissions profession in a positive way to diverse populations of transfer students
- Provide supervision to Project Coordinator
- Report progress of transfer recruitment efforts
- Oversee transfer student ambassador program
- Assist in maintaining transfer credit database
- Maintain knowledge of and current list of articulated agreements with community college partners with special focus on recruitment to these particular programs
- Serve as a liaison to the academic units to develop new transfer opportunities
- Maintain regular office hours at leased office space at the local community college
- Serve as point of contact for returning undergraduate students to assist with the admission and enrollment process
- Meet with prospective transfer students by phone, email, virtual, or face to face to facilitate the admission and transfer process
- Maintain appropriate follow-up communication with students regarding the status of their applications for admission and transfer process
- Develop and refresh annually transfer recruitment plan and communication efforts
- Serve as a liaison between transfer students and respective college staff
- Work closely with the other college departments and staff to identify student needs in the Admission and transfer process
- Represent the College at area community colleges, and various college fairs
- Develop an effective working relationship with community college staff
- Plan and coordinate recruitment activities for transfer students including campus visit programs, enrollment programs, tele-counseling and group experiences
- Serve as back up support to undergraduate recruitment staff if and when needed
- Schedule and carry out travel including loading and transporting admission materials, displays and other equipment
- Participate in College committee work and campus events
- Participate in state, regional and national professional associations, and conferences
- Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or related work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Strong cross-cultural interpersonal and writing skills.
Public speaking skills that include diverse populations.

Salary Information Competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Attractive and comprehensive benefit package. Annual salary range is $48,098-$60,122. FTE

The Assistant Director of Transfer Admissions is responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating a comprehensive recruitment strategy focused on recruiting, enrolling, and supporting new transfer students. This position serves as a primary representative of Wayne State College to prospective transfer students, community colleges, and other external partners while contributing to the overall enrollment goals of the College. This includes frequent travel to partner community college campuses and attendance at transfer college fairs and other events.
The Assistant Director plans and executes transfer-specific recruitment initiatives, including outreach, communication plans, recruitment events, registration programs, and transfer articulation efforts. The position provides personalized guidance to prospective transfer students throughout the admissions process, from inquiry to enrollment, and works collaboratively with academic departments and campus partners to ensure a seamless transfer experience. Some non-standard work hours may apply and travel are required to support recruitment activities.
In addition to leading transfer recruitment efforts, the Assistant Director contributes to the Office of Admissions' broader recruitment initiatives by participating in recruitment events, high school visits, meetings, retreats, and other enrollment activities as assigned. This position requires excellent interpersonal and public speaking skills, strong written communication skills, the ability to work independently while collaborating with campus stakeholders, and a strong commitment to student service. This position reports directly to the Director of Admissions and involves the supervision of a Project Coordinator that assists with credit evaluations and other transfer recruitment efforts.
