ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Production Manager at Kratos leads manufacturing operations, ensuring the efficient, high-quality, and safe assembly of power distribution and control equipment. This hands-on leadership role is responsible for optimizing production schedules, workforce productivity, and process adherence, while maintaining strict compliance with industry standards. Supervise production teams, enforce company standards, troubleshoot daily operational challenges, and drive incremental process improvements in collaboration with senior leadership. Success in this role requires strong problem-solving skills, a commitment to operational excellence, and the ability to foster a culture of continuous improvement, mentorship, and high performance across production lines.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervise and provide direct oversight to production teams, ensuring efficient workflow, quality output, and adherence to production schedules.
  • Ensure on-time, on-budget completion of power distribution and control equipment assembly projects.
  • Monitor and balance workforce capacity to meet production demand, adjusting manpower as needed.
  • Lead daily stand-up meetings to align teams on production goals, priorities, and expectations.
  • Enforce compliance with assembly protocols, work procedures, and built-in quality control measures to prevent defects and rework.
  • Address and resolve production bottlenecks and workflow disruptions in real-time.
  • Partner with the Senior Manufacturing Manager to identify and implement process optimizations, enhancing production flow and resource utilization.
  • Track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive operational improvements and take corrective actions when efficiency or quality targets are missed.
  • Collaborate on lean manufacturing initiatives, including 5S implementation, to reduce waste and streamline workflows.
  • Recommend and execute process improvement strategies that enhance operational efficiency and product flow.
  • Work closely with Engineering, Sales, and Project Management to ensure steady production workloads and resource alignment.
  • Foster a safety-first culture, ensuring strict adherence to PPE usage and workplace safety protocols.
  • Conduct safety audits, enforce OSHA and company safety guidelines, and ensure compliance with material handling and equipment usage protocols.
  • Promote a clean, organized, and highly efficient work environment through 5S and lean principles.
  • Provide coaching, mentorship, and feedback to production personnel to drive high performance and accountability.
  • Lead hiring, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions in collaboration with HR.
  • Support and reinforce company training programs to enhance workforce skills, craftsmanship, and professional growth.
  • Build a strong, engaged team culture that promotes teamwork, efficiency, and continuous improvement.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of 6 years of experience leading a team of production personnel in a manufacturing environment. Awareness of sheet metal fabrication and Engineered products is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working with UL certified electrical equipment.
  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt is strongly preferred.
  • Additional consideration is given to those candidates with trade licenses or certifications.
  • Strong computer literacy required, especially with regards to Microsoft Office Suite

PREFERRED SKILLS

  • 4+ years employment with Kratos Industries.
  • Ability to clearly communicate person to person, email, and phone when necessary.
  • Ability to train, mentor and coach employees.
  • Demonstrated Professional Adaptability/ Maintain Professionalism working with other Disciplines.
  • Computer Literate in Microsoft Office Suite, ERP systems (JobBoss2), Planner, etc.
