Job description

Rotating 12 hour shift. 7pm to 7am. 2 on, 2 off, 3 on, 2 off, 2 on, 3 off (every other weekend off)
The purpose of this position is to manage both production and personnel for the North Night Production. This person works cooperatively with their peers of the same title as well as managers and supervisors throughout the organization, and reports to the Cheese Production Manager(s).
Responsibilities
  1. The primary function of this role is to manage cheese production, which will include:
    1. Ensuring that production work is carried out correctly and in a timely manner. Reviewing all paperwork and electronic records, and overseeing corrections wherever necessary.
    2. Monitoring all equipment and making sure it is working properly, contacting maintenance and or management personnel as needed. Make sure employees have the tools they need for the job, and that those tools are in good working order.
    3. Ensure safety for all employees. Verify that cleaning tasks are done correctly, on time, and recorded properly. Uphold quality standards for cheese and whey.

  1. Secondary job responsibility is to manage the personnel on the assigned crew:
    1. Training of employees, helping each employee to develop a set of goals for their employment, as well as setting and monitoring performance standards for all employees.
    2. Execute employee reviews on time and at the intervals requested by management, assist with wage reviews, and maintain a high level of receptivity to employee concerns, complaints, and questions (listen to your team and advocate on their behalf to management).
    3. Manage assignment of staff to work stations, oversee employee breaks, jump in and help with the work where possible and whenever needed. Work to resolve any employee conflicts that arise. Follow through on reprimands as needed. Set a high bar for teamwork and performance.

  1. Communication and Teamwork:
    1. Good verbal and written communication skills are a must, interacting with and responding to peers and managers both in person and via email is essential for this role.
    2. Cooperation with employees across the organization will be required. Be prepared to pass along concerns and commentary to management staff. Be willing to speak honestly and openly when asked for your opinion. Be the voice of your crew.
    3. Lead by example whenever possible, maintain confidentiality when required, be accountable for your mistakes and those of your crew. Support the companies goals and core values both in the things you say and in what you do.

Qualifications:
  1. Possess the ability to lead people, to prioritize tasks, and to delegate work effectively. Manage the available staff to maximize production quality and quantity, and make efficient use of payroll.
  2. Demonstrate the core values of the company, be self motivated and display good work ethic.
  3. Minimum of 5 years Supervisory or Managerial experience.
  4. Food or cheese manufacturing a plus!
