Job description

Responsibilities
  • Oversees the buying, pricing, merchandising, promotion, and profitability of the Piazza's Cheese departments and specific store-wide merchandising initiatives.
  • Works with Cheese managers in both stores in the following areas:
    • Proper cheese display practices
    • Proper handling and rotation of product to ensure highest quality
    • Manage inventory levels and turns
    • Maintain company signage program
    • Product knowledge
    • Employee development
    • Cross-merchandising of related products in cheese dept.
    • Maintain excellent and highly appealing retail conditions
  • Establishes excellent producer, distributor, and wholesaler relationships
  • Oversees the employee recruitment and development process for both Cheese departments
  • Continually refreshes product knowledge and stays abreast of food trends through a variety of sources
  • Works with Deli managers, Wine stewards, and grocery staff to create store-wide merchandising initiatives
  • Responsible for budgeting, promotion planning, and overall growth of Cheese department.

Job Qualifications
  • Retail grocery experience (at least 5 years)
  • Product merchandising experience
  • Product knowledge and passion for cheese and specialty foods
  • Positive attitude and great customer service skills
  • Great communication skills with customers, employees, and vendors
  • Detail-oriented regarding store inventory and merchandising
