Job description

Tennis Channel is seeking a Director of Product Development to lead product strategy and execution for our direct-to-consumer subscription streaming experiences across mobile, web, and connected TV platforms. This role will be central to shaping how fans discover, subscribe to, access, and manage Tennis Channel's streaming products, with responsibility across core subscription capabilities including payment processing, user authentication, entitlements, billing, and subscription lifecycle management. The ideal candidate brings experience within OTT, streaming video, or sports media products, along with a strong understanding of app store billing models, direct billing systems, authentication providers, CRM and lifecycle tools, and customer account platforms.

This leader will bring a strong command of the product development process-from opportunity identification and requirements gathering through prioritization, roadmapping, cross-functional execution, and post-launch optimization. The ideal candidate has deep experience building and scaling subscription-based digital products, with a strong grasp of acquisition, conversion, retention, and lifecycle optimization within DTC subscription businesses. They will also have experience leading teams or mentoring product managers, and know how to partner closely with engineering and product design to deliver high-quality, technically sound, customer-centered experiences.

This is a highly cross-functional role for a strategic product leader who can connect business goals, customer needs, technical realities, and platform requirements into a clear and effective product plan. An interest in and familiarity with tennis is a strong plus, including an understanding of the tennis fan experience, seasonality, live events, and how audiences engage with the sport across digital platforms.

In this role, you will

  • Lead product development for Tennis Channel's DTC subscription streaming products across iOS, Android, web, and connected TV
  • Own and evolve critical parts of the subscriber journey, including account creation, login, authentication, purchase flows, payment processing, plan selection, billing, renewals, cancellations, entitlements, and account management
  • Define product vision and strategy for core platform experiences that drive subscriber acquisition, conversion, activation, retention, and engagement
  • Establish and lead a disciplined product development process that improves how opportunities are identified, requirements are defined, priorities are set, and solutions are brought to market
  • Partner closely with engineering, product design, QA, analytics, customer support, operations, marketing, and executive stakeholders to ensure product decisions reflect both user needs and business priorities
  • Drive roadmap development across multiple platforms and workstreams, balancing customer impact, business value, technical complexity, resource constraints, and release timing
  • Create clarity around scope and execution by translating business goals and customer insights into product requirements documents, epics, user stories, acceptance criteria, and release plans
  • Lead the process of gathering requirements from multiple sources, including stakeholder input, user feedback, analytics, support trends, platform constraints, operational needs, and engineering discovery
  • Work closely with engineering leadership to shape solutions early, identify dependencies, assess feasibility, sequence work appropriately, and make thoughtful tradeoff decisions
  • Build and maintain a prioritized product backlog, ensuring the team is focused on the highest-value initiatives and that priorities are transparent, well-rationalized, and aligned across partners
  • Facilitate cross-functional planning rituals such as roadmap reviews, discovery sessions, backlog refinement, sprint planning support, release planning, and go-to-market coordination
  • Ensure strong execution discipline by proactively identifying risks, resolving ambiguity, removing blockers, and aligning teams throughout the development lifecycle
  • Use data and experimentation to evaluate performance, uncover friction points, validate product decisions, and inform future roadmap direction
  • Define and monitor KPIs tied to subscription product performance, including checkout conversion, sign-in success, trial conversion, churn, retention, playback starts, plan mix, and customer lifetime value
  • Champion a product culture grounded in customer empathy, operational rigor, platform excellence, and strong partnership with technical teams

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in product management or product development for consumer digital products, with significant experience in subscription, streaming, media, sports, or entertainment
  • Strong experience leading products across mobile apps, web platforms, and connected TV ecosystems
  • Deep expertise in payment processing, subscription commerce, identity and authentication, account systems, entitlements, and subscription management
  • Proven ability to lead complex product initiatives from concept through launch in close partnership with engineering teams
  • Strong command of the full product development lifecycle, including:
    • opportunity assessment and discovery
    • requirements gathering and synthesis
    • writing clear product requirements and user stories
    • prioritization frameworks and tradeoff management
    • roadmap creation and maintenance
    • cross-functional delivery and release planning
    • post-launch analysis and optimization
  • Experience working with engineering teams in a highly collaborative way, including technical discovery, solution evaluation, dependency management, estimation input, phased delivery planning, and execution risk management
  • Ability to bring structure to ambiguous problems and create alignment across technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Strong understanding of agile product development practices and experience managing backlogs, releases, and iterative improvements across multiple product surfaces
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to articulate strategy, justify prioritization decisions, and produce clear, actionable documentation
  • Analytical mindset with experience using quantitative and qualitative inputs to guide product decisions

How This Role Works with Engineering

  • engage engineering early during product discovery rather than handing off fully formed solutions
  • define the problem clearly while collaborating on the best technical approach
  • align product priorities with engineering capacity, architectural realities, and platform constraints
  • help break large initiatives into phased, achievable deliverables
  • make thoughtful scope decisions to keep teams moving without compromising customer value
  • ensure requirements are complete, testable, and usable by engineering and QA
  • maintain momentum through active backlog management, issue resolution, and cross-functional communication

Success in This Role

  • Tennis Channel has a clear, actionable roadmap for DTC product development across mobile, web, and connected TV
  • Engineering and design teams have well-defined requirements, strong product partnership, and clear priorities
  • Subscription purchase, authentication, and account management experiences become more seamless and reliable
  • Product decisions are grounded in user insight, business impact, and technical feasibility
  • The DTC product organization operates with greater clarity, rigor, predictability, and speed
  • Fans have a better streaming experience, and the business sees measurable gains in subscriber growth and retention

Employment practices will not be influenced or affected by virtue of an applicant's or employee's race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy, gender identity, and sexual orientation), national origin, age, disability, genetic information, military or veteran status or any other characteristic protected by law.
