Job description

Catbird, a demi fine jewelry company, is looking for a highly organized Pre-Production Assistant to work weekdays at our Brooklyn jewelry studio.

The ideal candidate for this position is flexible and thrives in a hands-on environment. We are looking for someone who enjoys taking initiative to build their own momentum within this role, as it is such a unique and vital part of our daily operation. Our Pre-Production Assistant acts as a support for all jewelry production as they are an important point in our production chain, responsible for preparing all of our raw materials for our jewelers before they hit the floor. Jewelry interest and experience is a plus but not required.  


Key Responsibilities
  • Raw material preparation and batching (ring coiling, chain cutting, component-pulling, jump ring coiling, wire handling).

  • Work with our jewelers to manage unanticipated raw material needs

  • Work with production management to provide constant communication and support for daily operations

  • Report on pre-production status

  • Operate within our inventory management system to ensure responsible and accurate tracking of our raw materials

  • 2+ year(s) of professional work experience 

  • Interest in working hands on

  • Enthusiasm for problem-solving

  • Ability to multi-task and work efficiently with a sense of urgency

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Excel/Google Sheets ability ideal

  • This position is onsite Mon-Fri at the Brooklyn Navy Yard

  • Physical requirements include repetitive wrist and hand movements prepping jewelry. We’re happy to discuss reasonable accommodations to support individual needs.

Compensation for this position is $21/hour
