About this position:
Job Type: Full Time, Onsite
Schedule: Monday - Friday
  • Day Shift 7:00am to 3:30pm
  • Swing Shift 2:30pm to 11:00am, plus $1.25 shift differential.

Wage Range: $18.50 -$21.50 per hour, DOE
Purpose of the Position:
This entry level position is a great first step to a career at Farwest! Production Assistants will process orders cut on the burning machines and assist in other areas of the warehouse as needed while following all safety policies and procedures. Perform clean up duties as needed to maintain safe and organized work area throughout the shift. Will learn how to operate forklifts and overhead cranes.
Major Duties:
  1. Identify parts associated with a specific order, process parts and clean up per instructions on the work order using grinders and hand tools. Follow the parts processing six step procedures.
  2. Communicate effectively with coworkers and related shifts.
  3. Stack parts on pallets or in bundles and mark with pertinent information from the work order, for delivery or storage.
  4. Remove small cut parts from the burning tables by hand when needed.

  6. Identify all questionable quality issues and present them for review by the supervisor to ensure that customer expectations are met on every order.
  7. Load and unload vehicles including inbound deliveries and customer will calls, while representing the highest standard of a Farwest Steel employee.
  8. Sort some parts and put in tubs, then take the parts to the processing area.
  9. Forklift operation at times along with some jib crane and overhead crane operation.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Reliable, be on time ready to work daily.
  • Continuous mental and/or visual attention to work tasks is required to monitor safety conditions the production process, attention to important details of the process of parts preparation and delivery to Customers.
  • Warehouse training or prior experience of at least 12 months preferred, WE WILL TRAIN.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and writing in English.
  • Math ability to figure piece counts and read a tape measure etc. including converting decimals to fractions and vice versa.
