Big Data optimization project to optimize the data flow.

Job Responsibilities
  • Test programs or databases, correct errors and make necessary modifications.
  • Modify existing databases and database management systems or direct programmers and analysts to make changes.
  • Write and code logical and physical database descriptions and specify identifiers of database to management system or direct others in coding descriptions.
Skills
  • Verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic ability to work independently and manage oneโ€™s time.
  • Basic knowledge of logical data modeling and physical data modeling.
  • Basic knowledge of computer software, such as SQL, Visual Basic, Oracle, etc.
Positionโ€™s Contributions to Work Group
  • The main function of a data engineer is to ensure that the data assets of an organization are supported by an architecture that supports the organization in achieving its strategic goal.
  • A typical data engineer is responsible for setting enterprise standards for databases, data integration, and the means to get to the data.
  • This position working with a team responsible for managing CVA units reporting process to enterprise and providing insights to business for increasing sales
Typical Day
  • Test Airflow, correct errors and make necessary modifications during our migration from SAS.
  • Maintaining and enhancing database in SAS.
  • Provide support to business partners that have questions about data in CVAโ€™s in relation to numbers coming out of SAS.
  • Working with colleagues in Chicago, Michigan, and Geneva, Switzerland.
  • Will be interacting with business stakeholders to explain logic and impact of changes.
Education
  • Bachelor's degree required- in relevant field.
  • 2+ years work experience required.
Technical Skills Required

(Required)

  • 2+ years exp in SAS
  • 2+ years exp with SQL
  • 2+ years exp in Snowflake

(Desired)

  • Project management exp specifically Agile methodology
  • Apache Airflow exp
Soft Skills Required
  • Verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic ability to work independently and manage oneโ€™s time. Critical thinking skills a must.
