PPAP Coordinators are professionals responsible for managing the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) within manufacturing organizations, particularly in the automotive industry. Their main duties include ensuring that all parts and processes meet customer and industry quality standards before mass production begins. They coordinate the submission of required documentation, facilitate communication between suppliers and internal teams, and help resolve any compliance issues. By overseeing the PPAP process, they help guarantee consistent product quality and regulatory adherence.

What does a PPAP coordinator do?

A PPAP coordinator oversees the production part approval process (PPAP) for products. In this career, your duties include obtaining documentation about measurements, conflicting materials, and layout and installation requirements for parts. Your responsibilities include obtaining plans, blueprints, and other relevant documents for new projects. You also maintain files from past projects so you can re-access the documentation if needed. You may create a streamlined approval process if one is not already in place, and you may carry out first inspections to ensure that the manufacturer has met your employer’s requirements.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a PPAP coordinator, and why are they important?

To thrive as a PPAP Coordinator, you need expertise in quality management systems, strong understanding of the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), and experience in manufacturing or automotive industries, often supported by a technical degree or quality certifications. Familiarity with APQP, FMEA software, document control systems, and proficiency in MS Office tools are typically required. Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to communicate clearly with suppliers and internal teams are essential soft skills.
