Job Description

The APQP Engineer is a divisional resource responsible for ensuring the flawless execution of new product launches and process changes to existing product. The engineer will be located at our Elgin, Illinois facility, but will lead Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) efforts across our ITW Shakeproof locations. To accomplish their goals, the role requires frequent and effective communication with our Troy, Michigan sales team and with the operations, quality, and engineering personnel at our manufacturing plants.

Job Responsibilities:

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Lead New Product Launches from the award of business to the successful completion of quality records (such as PPAP).

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Champion product/process changes including direct interaction with our customer base as needed.

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Develop project timelines for APQP projects and ensure successful adherence to the schedule.

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Partner with our supplier development team on the selection and notification of vendors during the launch/change process.

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Interface with a cross-functional group that includes ITW sales, quality, and engineering as well as our vendor and customer base.

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Prepare monthly summary of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the APQP process.

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Provide guidance to the Engineering Coordinator and PPAP team.

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Continuously improve the APQP process through enhancement of processes and procedures.

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Others duties as assigned.

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Minimum 1-2 years' experience in the manufacturing industry; product and/or tooling development for metal manufacturing (fastener) experience preferred.

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Experience in automotive industry is highly beneficial.

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Working knowledge of APQP or equivalent gated product development processes.

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Elevated proficiency with Microsoft Office software package; specifically Excel, PowerPoint and Word. Additionally, AutoCAD experience is preferred.

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Strong attention to detail, verbal, and written communication skills

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Aptitude to multi-task while maintaining highest levels of accuracy.
