Associate, Performance Measurement

Monticello Associates is seeking an Associate, Performance Measurement to join our Denver office. Reporting to the Managing Director of Performance Measurement, this role is responsible for delivering accurate, timely, and insightful performance analytics for complex institutional portfolios. The position requires a high degree of technical expertise, independent judgment, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.

The Associate, Performance Measurement will work closely with investment consultants, research professionals, and client service teams, serving as a key resource for performance-related analysis across public and private markets. This individual will play a critical role in maintaining data integrity, enhancing reporting processes, and supporting client-facing deliverables.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the calculation, validation, and reporting of portfolio performance across multi-asset class portfolios, including equities, fixed income, hedge funds, real assets, and private investments.
  • Independently reconcile performance data across custodians, managers, and third-party systems, investigating and resolving discrepancies with minimal oversight.
  • Produce and review monthly and quarterly client reports, including performance, asset allocation, benchmark comparisons, and attribution analysis.
  • Serve as a subject matter resource for performance-related inquiries from consultants and clients, providing clear and well-supported explanations.
  • Coordinate closely with internal stakeholders to ensure accuracy and timeliness of deliverables, often managing competing deadlines.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, scalability, and data quality within performance reporting workflows.
  • Support system enhancements, data integrations, and automation efforts where applicable.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Undergraduate degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • 5–7+ years of relevant experience in performance measurement, fund accounting, or investment operations, preferably within an institutional or multi-asset class environment.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience working with large, complex datasets; familiarity with performance reporting systems is preferred.
  • Experience with private equity/private markets performance analysis is a plus.
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to identify issues, investigate root causes, and implement solutions independently.
  • High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to present technical concepts clearly to both internal and external stakeholders.

Starting base salary range: $85,000 - $95,000. Salary will be based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, licenses/certifications, industry knowledge, and geographic location.
