Job description

Our oil & gas midstream client is seeking a Payroll Manager.

The company is located downtown and offers a hybrid schedule, with three days in the office and two days working from home.

Key Duties:

  • Manager of full cycle biweekly payroll processing services for 1000+ employees in 32 US tax jurisdictions and Puerto Rico (including marine, offshore and onshore pipelines, trucking, plant/refinery and corporate functions).
  • Ownership of Dayforce HCM, Work Force Management, and payroll software.
  • Manage 3 payroll admins to process all payroll functions to include timecard and payroll processing for exempt, non-exempt employees and hourly employees.
  • Interpret and document pay policies to ensure accurate amounts/deductions are applied to various earnings codes in compliance with all state and federal laws.
  • Review and monitor wage garnishment and wage attachment processing.
  • Processing of additional pays to include incentive bonuses and paycheck correcting off cycle payrolls.
  • Support 401k/Roth deferral program and employer match; 401k Loan maintenance; and Puerto Rico 1165E program.
  • Conduct biweekly, quarterly, annual payroll tax reconciliations for 2 FEIN’s.
  • Submit and monitor all tax tracers with vendor to ensure resolution.
  • Responsible for managing related updates within Dayforce HCM, Time & Attendance and payroll system.
  • Responsible for ensuring payroll procedures are documented in SOX payroll narratives with key controls and compliance of separation of duties.
  • Create adhoc reports for internal use by Payroll, HR, and department managers.
  • Work with Accounting and Treasury teams to ensure accurate labor reporting and funding requirements; own setup and maintenance of payroll chart of accounts in Dayforce.
  • Own the maintenance and retention of payroll records and VOE processing.


Required Skills, Experience, and Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Accounting or another business-related field
  • 15+ years of related experience
  • 8+ years managing payroll processes and supervising teams
  • Certified Payroll Professional designation
  • Strong proficiency in MS Excel and MS Office Suite
  • Analytical, self-starter with strong problem solving skills
  • Good communicator with strong customer service orientation
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor less experienced payroll administrators
  • Experience with Dayforce HCM a plus
