Position Summary
The Payroll Specialist supports accurate and timely payroll processing for our employee population, working within established systems and procedures. This role is a key contributor to payroll operations and works closely with HR and Finance to ensure employees are paid correctly and on time.
Key Responsibilities
โข Process bi-weekly payroll for hourly and salaried employees using UKG
โข Review and validate timecard data, flagging discrepancies for supervisor review
โข Calculate standard deductions, garnishments, and benefits withholdings
โข Assist with payroll tax filings and remittances under the direction of HR & Finance
โข Support W-2 preparation and year-end payroll activities
โข Process routine payroll changes including new hires, terminations, and pay adjustments
โข Respond to employee payroll inquiries and escalate complex issues as needed
โข Maintain payroll records in accordance with retention requirements
โข Assist with payroll audits by pulling reports and organizing documentation
โข Identify and flag process discrepancies to management
Required Qualifications
โข Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or related field, or equivalent work experience
โข 5+ years of payroll processing experience
โข Familiarity with multi-state payrolls; CA & IL processing experience strongly desired
โข Experience with hourly workforce payroll required
โข Working knowledge of a payroll system (UKG experience a plus)
โข Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
โข Good communication and customer service skills
